Description[]
Angwyn serves as the Elven Ambassador of Fallinel in Solace. Like his wife, Arianwen, he is very partial to their eldest daughter, Aelwyn, and often criticizes their youngest daughter, Adaine, in defense of Aelwyn.
Angwyn shows little to no love towards Adaine, while having a double standard for Aelwyn. He is disappointed when Adaine gets detention, doesn't believe it when he is shown footage of Aelwyn at a party, and is angry when Adaine gets Aelwyn arrested after Sklonda brings up a countermeasure to his diplomatic immunity.
He is very prejudiced towards non high elves, with his prejudice even extending other elves like Gilear, who he immediately disregards for being a wood elf.
Freshman Year[]
The Beginning Begins[]
Angwyn is first introduced when the whole Abernant family sits around the breakfast table in their home before Adaine's first day of freshman year at Aguefort Adventuring Academy. Angwyn is reading the newspaper. He comments on the news that the death of the Elven Oracle is dreadful, though he is intentionally vague about it at first, drawing Adaine's ire. He comments that Aelwyn, his oldest daughter would be smart enough to just ask, drawing the difference between a researcher's mind and the "responsive, more visceral attitude" that a practical caster has.
He and Arianwen are rather indifferent when Adaine casts Ray of Sickness on her sister during their argument, though they naturally take Aelwyn's side in the matter. Angwyn reveals the news about the Elven Oracle, and he scolds Adaine when she comments that she must not have been a very good oracle if she didn't see the storm coming.
On their way out the door, Angwyn gifts Adaine a large crystal orb, which was the arcane focus of an old friend who was a warcaster from the military in Fallinel. Adaine hesitantly accepts, and Angwyn uses the opportunity to complain to her that he really does try his best with her, though he's rather insincere.
After the Afterlife[]
Angwyn arrives at Aguefort Adventuring Academy with Arianwen to pick Adaine up after the battle with Doreen and the Corn Ooze. Arianwen gets out of the car and explains that Angwyn won't be getting out, as doesn't want to be seen. Fed up, Adaine gets in the car and doesn't talk to them for the rest of the night. As they arrive at home, Angwyn expresses his disappointment that he never thought he'd have a daughter that would get detention, much to Adaine's confusion, as she did just kill a woman, which she assumed would be what he was disappointed by.
Cool Kids, Cold Case[]
As part of the investigation into the Harvestmen, who had members in high ranking government positions, Sklonda Gukgak collaborates with Angwyn. She is invited over for dinner for them to discuss the matter.
The Sisterly Showdown[]
Angwyn shows up to the Wallace residence to free Aelwyn from police custody. He argues with Detective Sklonda Gukgak about their diplomatic immunity. Adaine claims she feels unsafe in Aelwyn's presence, which is grounds for Aelwyn to be taken away. Angwyn is furious with Adaine.
Family in Flames[]
As Adaine passes her house before the final fight in the school gymnasium, she finds it completely leveled. She detects the remnants of a powerful teleportation spell, indicating that her family has fled to Fallinel.
Sophomore Year[]
Angwyn is a member of the Court of Stars, who are investigating Arianwen for her forbidden research on the Sylvairian goddess of mystery. After Aelwyn is arrested at the Wallace residence, she is taken prisoner in Fallinel by Angwyn and the Court of Stars, and held in Calethriel Tower to be tortured, presumably for her involvement with Kalvaxus and the Nightmare King.
When the Bad Kids are fighting Captain James Whitclaw in Leviathan, Angwyn and a few other members of the Court of Stars show up to kidnap his daughter, Adaine to bring her back to Fallinel where she belongs and to interrogate her about Arianwen's location. They also claim that Fallinel is entitled to their Oracle. The party fights him and Kir in the tower and escape with both Adaine and Aelwyn. They leave him there unconscious as the tower collapses around him. It's unclear at the end of this episode whether or not he survived.
Later, Adaine uncovers a written draft of a message for Sending in Arianwen and Aelwyn's room in the Owl and the Harp, letting the recipient know that it was their last chance to join them. When the Bad Kids enter the Temple to the Goddess of Mystery, they see three pairs of footprints, and then a fourth appear out of nowhere and join them. Adaine assumes these were for and from her father, which is later confirmed when she meets them after splitting from the rest of her party.
He and the rest of her family attempt to convince her to join them, but Adaine is resistant. Arianwen leaves to continue their mission in returning the Nightmare King to power, and Angwyn orders Aelwyn to use Detect Thoughts to locate the rest of the Bad Kids. Aelwyn is initially hesitant, as her little sister is still "a baby", and just a child, but Angwyn presses her. When she does not find the information he was looking for, Angwyn threatens to forcibly change Adaine into the kind of person he wants her to be. After escaping the bubble her family had trapped her in, Adaine retaliates with a 5th level Adaine's Furious Fists, which deals 77 damage and kills him completely with one hit. She loots his body and finds a sword meant for the Elven Oracle.
