Bucky Applebees is the oldest of Kristen Applebees's younger brothers and a freshman at the Aguefort Adventuring Academy.

The Beginning Begins[]
Bucky rides in the car along with his brothers Bricker and Cork to drop off Kristen for her first day of highschool at Aguefort Adventuring Academy.
Family in Flames[]
When Kristen returns back to her house, she sees that one of her brothers is bleeding out and another is said to be knocked out unconscious during the fight.
Sophomore Year[]

After Kristen moves into Mordred Manor for her sophomore year and receives her cut of Kalvaxus's dragon hoard, she goes to the Applebees' house and leaves her brothers a bag of gold before embarking on her adventure, but doesn't go in to see them.
Junior Year[]
Not All Who Wanda Are Lost[]
Whilst filling out forms for her student body campaign, Kristen overhears Mac and Donna berating Bucky on his first day of freshman year. Bucky appears to be a paladin, as he is carrying a longsword that is "a little too big for him." He is very excited to see his older sister and runs to give her a big hug and asks to meet after classes.
Under Pressure[]
Bucky reunites with his sister after his first day of school confirming that he is taking the route of a paladin of Helio, which he says is awesome. He tells Kristen that he hasn't told their parents about the gold she gave him and their brothers, which he feels a deep religious guilt over lying about and is convinced he's going to go to hell for. Kristen tries to persuade him that hell isn't what he thinks it is, but Gorthalax confirms Bucky's fears. Bucky tells Kristen that he can help spread the word about her presidential campaign as he's already telling kids in his classes that they're going to hell. Adaine uses this to try and convince Bucky to instead campaign for Kipperlily Copperkettle, trying to ruin her reputation. Recognizing the Rat Grinders pin Bucky informs them that the Rat Grinder's cleric is the new cleric of Helio who transferred from Highcourt. Bucky says that he still misses his sister and wants to spend time with her despite Kristen possibly living in sin. When Kristen mistakenly calls the Rat Grinders the "Butt Fuckers", Bucky screams and runs away.
The Name[]
Kristen checks in with Bucky, finding him looking down at school because his group members won't convert to Helio despite all the good he (Bucky and/or Helio) has done for them. He explains this makes him angry, making Kristen concerned Bucky has been corrupted by rage, but there's no telltale physical sign when she feels his chest under the guise of comforting him. He and Kristen talk a bit about how their upbringing didn't prepare him to face people who were particularly different than their family, and that he can't imagine any future besides the one laid out for him. Kristen offers to talk to him about his doubts, pointing out that it is her goddess's specialty, but Bucky stops just short of it.
As Bucky walks away, the shards of Cassandra are able to show Kristen other possible futures for Bucky. One of the futures is a happy Bucky, surrounded by friends who see the world with more nuance and allow Bucky to as well.
