Gunnie signed on with Dan shortly after leaving home to fulfill his dream of becoming a spacer. Unfortunately, Captain Dan is the worst kind of spacer, and his advice to Gunnie to forgo insurance (and neglecting to make sure he had the right kind of safety spacesuit) led to Gunnies' current cybernetic form, after which he removed Gunnie from his crew.
Captain Dan is also a member of U4F, and seems to have avoided their "female captains only" rule by wearing a blond wig and going under the fake name Dannielle Scrap.
He is one of The U4F captains to answer The Wurst's distress call in The Luckless, the Abandoned, and the Forsaked (Part 1).
