Description[]
He has an impressive beard that looks like it is made of six mustaches, and an assortment of snaggle-teeth all made of different materials. "Bim" is short for Bimothy. His magic takes the form of gold coins shooting out of his hands.
Chungledown is incredibly swift and dextrous. While in Sylvaire, he is able to run, jump and climb like a monkey, leaping from tree to tree. During Fabian, Gorgug, and Riz's Boys' Night, he was able to run several dozen miles per hour, and keep pace with their car, though it is currently unclear whether or not his speed was magically augmented
Background[]
In his younger days, Chungledown Bim worked on a pirate ship with a lot of other pirates, also called "Bimothy", as this is a very common pirate name. He earned the nickname "Chungledown" the first time he chungled down, in order to differentiate him from the other Bimothys.
History[]
He tells Fabian during the Cult of Old Bill banquet in Crow's Keep that he knew his father, Bill, and that he'd 'follow him anywhere', though it's unclear if he meant Bill or Fabian. He also stuffed pasta into his coat.
He supported Fabian in the fight against Captain James Whitclaw at Crow's Keep, until Fabian panicked and tried to hide. He turned against Fabian and tried to cast Eldritch Blast on him, before telling Fabian he was gonna shit in his mouth.
He is now Fabian's number one mortal fear, which is proved when he reappears inside the Forest of the Nightmare King, alongside the Sexy Rat. However, it is later revealed by Cassandra that she did not create the illusion of Chungledown Bim and, to Fabian's dismay, that this was "a fellow traveler" in the forest, but Fabian's insight check was too low to determine if this was actually the truth.
Chungledown Bim appears in Boys' Night! (Roll20Con) and chases after Riz Gukgak, Fabian, and Gorgug Thistlespring in Corey Durden's car before losing them.
Trivia[]
- If Chungledown Bim's future goals and ambitions, with respect to his relationship with Fabian, could be summed up in six words, the players agreed they would be: "I'm gonna shit in your mouth."[3]
- He was originally created as a random tertiary character just to flesh out the members of the Cult of Old Bill.[4] Brennan described the creation of the name as "an arms-race against yourself," because of the ridiculous names he had give the other NPCs in the cult, moments before introducing Chungledown.[5]
- Bill Seacaster insists he should continue being Chungledown Bim’s patron, going as far as murdering any potential patrons Chungledown Bim attempts to make a pact with.
- According to the terms of Fabian's bank account, if Fabian were to cash out his balance before leaving school, Chungledown Bim would receive 18 million gold pieces.
- As part of his pirate's background, Chungledown Bim has a "dirty, nasty seagull's beak" as his lucky trinket. Lou Wilson has stated that Chungledown Bim grips it tightly at night before going to bed and likely gets emotional if he is unable to locate it.[6]
