Class Conflict is the second episode of season 10, Misfits and Magic.
The Magical Misfits finish their shopping in Vertiq Alley and spend the night at the Knave's Navel before heading off to Gowpenny Academy of Arcane Arts in the morning. They file up to the Great Hall with the rest of the first year students and are sorted into Chimeron. The next morning, the head of Chimeron house, Dr. Norman Boodle, wakes them up and gives them their class schedules and they begin their first day of school. Throughout the day, Dream's and Sam Black's wands reach their final forms. In Potions Class, they meet the relatively unhelpful Professor Viniscus, and the significantly more helpful Lemli Irving, who is a mermaid. After class, they befriend Khanh Nguyen, a Hercinil student who appreciates that they use her real name instead of her stupid wizard name. At Applied Evocations Class, a large explosion blows the door open.

Synopsis[]
The Misfits, having spent the previous night in Vertiq Alley, and taken the train through the English countryside, find themselves standing outside of The Gowpenny Academy of the Arcane Arts.
Evan notes that he’s checked in on Digsby; after their kerfuffle, he had been safely teleported back from the island. Evan apologizes for his outburst, but his new friends assure him that Digsby deserved it. The group notices that their cellphones aren’t getting any reception, and Dream manages to cast a spell to break through the magical signal interference, and teaches the ritual to the other Misfits. They all save each other’s numbers in their phones, with Evan hotlinking their numbers (since his phone does not have a screen).
The other first-year students notice these attempts, and are confused, having never seen cellphones before. However, in explaining, Jammer uses the term “m*ggles,” causing one of the children to run to tell on him. Jammer manages to stop him before he gets very far, and threatens him into silence, tricking him into saying something racist, and saying that he’ll tell everyone. He rips the kid's neck before sending him off.
The four of them proceed into the castle, noticing that their robes, along with the other first years’, are black, whereas all of the older students’ robes are either red, blue, yellow, or green. In the Great Hall, they observe that it has a striking resemblance to the Great Hall from Harry Potter. At the end of it, there is a long bench of adult wizards, and a cauldron. Headmistress Philtrum stands nearby, at a pedestal, waiting for the new arrivals.
Philtrum announces that they’re going to be sorted, and the Misfits talk about how they’d like to be in the same house. Philtrum quiets them, then explains to the Great Hall at large that the four are part of the pilot program, and takes special care to mention that they do not have guns. She introduces the Confirmation Dias, a powerful magical item, which will sort them into their houses. First years begin to step onto it, and after some internal deliberation, walk off, with their robes shifting into one of the aforementioned colors.
While this is happening, Philtrum clarifies the four houses: Hercinil, represented by a gold bird of prey on a crimson background, considered the “hero” house. Students from this house sport red robes. Aqrabus, represented by a black scorpion on a hunter green background, considered the “evil” house, although quickly corrects herself to say “cunning” and “resourceful.” Students from this house sport green robes. Messanteu, represented by a copper fox on a cobalt blue background, considered the “smart” house. Students from this house sport blue robes. The final house, Chimeron, represented by a pewter goat on a buttery yellow background, considered the “salt of the earth” house, although it’s clear that it's not well-regarded. Students from this house sport yellow robes.
Philtrum continues her speech, but is interrupted by Evan, stating that this is “tracking,” a harmful tactic that predetermines students’ abilities, and assigning them traits, into classes based on those traits. He points out that this has been proven ineffective and harmful, but Philtrum argues that it may be true in the non-magical world, but in the magical world, it is proven by the age of 11 that one is already who they will be for their entire life. Dream points out that at 11, she was a much different person than she is now, and her brain isn’t even fully formed yet at the age of 17. Evan wonders what is different about a magical brain and a non-magical brain, and the others suggest that it’s likely classist. Evan also brings up that one of the possibilities is “evil,” which Philtrum begins to deny, but accepts that is what she said. As they are talking about this, one of the other first years steps off the Dias, sorted into Aqrabus, in tears that they’ve been deemed “evil.” The other students from that house go to comfort the new house member.
Evan continues, advising that getting into Aqrabus should probably merit therapy, not excitement, as there is no culture that values “cunning” over “kindness” or “bravery.” Philtrum seems unfamiliar with the term “therapy.” As the conversation goes on, each seems more uncomfortable with the concept, and Jammer asks if it’s possible not to be in a house. Philtrum says it's not possible, and looking around, Jammer sees that the only unsorted students are new. Dream begins to complain, and Philtrum shuts them all down as "disruptive," and invites them to leave Gowpenny entirely if they take issue with how the school, and wizard society, is run.
The Misfits decline to leave, and reason that they can change the system from the inside. Evan remarks that if he gets into the evil house, he will cry, a sad, ugly cry, and Dream cannot help but find this attractive. Dream decides to go first to be sorted, and notices that the house distributions are not equal; about 10% of the first years went to Hercinil, 10% to Aqrabus, 15% to Messanteu, and the remaining 65% went to Chimeron; it is clear that Chimeron is for anyone “other.” Stepping onto the Confirmation Dias, she begins to have a conversation with the artifact, which quickly becomes uncomfortable as it realizes that as an adult, she can push back against it.
The Confirmation Dias informs Dream that students sorted into Messanteu must maintain the highest grades in the school, and if they don’t, are forced into Chimeron. Upset by this, Dream tells the others; tired of the deliberations, Philtrum puts all four of them into Chimeron, stating that she would prefer all of them be in the same house, and given their widely ranging personalities, the “other” category is the only one they all fit into. Evan is pleased by this, happy to stay with his friends, and not be in Aqrabus.
Jammer takes it in stride, deciding to make Chimeron into a cool house. In agreement, Evan coins the new house motto, “Mess with the goat, get the horns.” Sam considers how to make it more inviting, and to make content. Evan hypothesizes Chimeron might also be the house with the most “regular kids.” Dream expresses disappointment at not being able to sleep in a dungeon, which Evan explains that the reality of such a thing is less than ideal, and that “sleeping in a dry room rules.” While he speaks, whispers go around, and people keep pointing at him, although he cannot make out what they’re saying.
The four agree to go into Chimeron, and some of the other students in Chimeron begin to pick up the goat-horn sign that they have invented. Their robes shift to yellow, and Dream details more of her conversation with the Dias. Now with their house, Coggle Undergus leans over to them and discloses that they had previously failed out of “the smart house.” They introduce themselves, and inform them that they have a twin, Hoggle, and explain that Messanteu is the only house that one can fail out of because you cannot “lose” being evil, or being heroic. They let the Misfits know that the school most prizes Hercinil. Coggle repeats the goat horns, and asks if the group would like to sit with them for the meal.
Dream and Sam discuss making a Tiktok series to expose what is happening at the school, but Coggle is unaware of what that is. Dream offers them her phone, trying to explain how to use Tiktok, but Coggle immediately starts panicking, telling her to hide it, telling her that things from the outside world are forbidden. Concerned with being overheard, Coggle says that they’re all not hungry, to some protests from the four, but explains that they have food back in their common room, and leads them back to the Chimeron dormitory. As they leave, they see The Trio sitting with Hercinil, including a windswept and sunburned Digsby, glaring at Evan. Evan looks away, but Jammer makes a goat horn sign at him. Digsby gestures Jammer over, and attempts to get him to join the Hercinil scuppers team. Jammer asks if Chimeron has a team, Digsby confirms that they do, but that Hercinil wins every year. Jammer taunts him, saying “we’ll see about that,” and tells him to go hang out on an island.
Jammer joins his friends, and Fergus catches Sam’s eye. Her friends ask if she’s interested in him, and she speculates if that’s even possible, since wizard bodies might be different than their own. Jammer doesn’t seem to think so, but Evan suggests that there might be a nurse’s office they could go to, to ask for reproductive health assistance. Coggle steps in, telling them that since they’re British, they don’t talk about such things, but there are spells that they can look up to prevent pregnancies. Coggle, trying very hard not to listen as they continue this line of conversation, leads them through the confusing and twisting hallways. Jammer is able to keep track of the path, putting together that the Chimeron common room is likely under the Great Hall. Hoggle joins them, and Jammer cannot tell them apart, and decides to call them both “Og,” and that they can respond as they’d like.
The Common Room[]
The Oggles open a painting for them, which is the door to the Chimeron common room. Evan asks about food, and the Oggles lead them in, and show the Misfits how to order food, using their wands to write orders on the table. Mimicking them, Jammer writes an order for a McRib, but the kitchen doesn’t know how to make them, and they hear a knock. The Oggles explain that is what the kitchen does when they don’t understand what was asked for. The Misfits ponder if this is because it is a seasonal menu item, or that it might be called something different in The UK. Jammer instead asks the Oggles to try “Rib Deluxe,” and the kitchen returns ribs on pieces of bread, with scalloped potatoes. Disappointed, Jammer throws the food on the ground, and one of the Oggles warn him that “they” do not like it when food is wasted. Dream asks who “they” is, and it is explained that the kitchen itself is alive, and that Chimeron has a special relationship with them.
Sam asks if the kitchen has a choice in making the food, and Evan, not wanting to use his wand, asks Dream to ask if the kitchen is trapped, and if they like being a kitchen. The kitchen replies that they are a kitchen, and while the concern is appreciated, they are just upset that there is food on the ground. Ashamed, Jammer picks up the food, apologizing for throwing it. After casting the spell, Dream notices that her wand has begun to change, now having a glimmer of pink. Convinced that she must’ve gotten Sam’s wand, she trades with her, but upon trade, the wand in her hand switches to the pink. Sam says that probably means Dream has to keep it, asking if she’s okay. Dream is upset, but Sam tries to keep optimistic, telling Dream that she used to love pink, and that they used to be “Pink Pals.” Dream asserts that it isn’t in line with the image she wants to maintain, and Sam comforts her, saying she is still dark and brooding. Dream asks Evan what he’d like to eat, and Evan says he’d like a free hamburger, either two burgers, or one large burger, whichever is easier. The kitchen seems pleased by this, and provides him two hamburgers, and one large hamburger.
Jammer says he’ll eat the floor ribs, and Sam says she’ll help him with that. Evan offers to trade, since eating food off the floor is no sweat for him. Dream reacts, saying that she is trying really hard to view him as a person, and not just a wubby. She and Jammer discuss her attraction to him, and her desire “fix” him, but Jammer expresses doubt. Dream confides that she isn’t really sure how to interact with people she likes, and Jammer tries to give her some advice on how to start a conversation. Evan asks what they’re talking about, Jammer says “emojis,” and while Evan’s phone doesn’t have a screen, he knows what they are, having seen The Emoji Movie. Coggle, entirely lost in the conversation, asks what emojis are. Jammer pulls out his phone to explain, but Coggle starts shouting for another student. The student, Anamica, exclaims that they have an “e-phone” that works, and that she wants one. She explains that it’s not supposed to work here, nor are they supposed to have them, but calls other students over to come look.
Dream suggests that Sam should show them her TikTok channel, and Sam asks the crowd if they know what a mukbang is, but quickly realizes that they don’t. She begins to explain what it is, showing them a video. Anamica stops them, and calls for more students, who begin to gather around them. After seeing her eating cucumbers, sausage, and rice, the students begin to request those items from the kitchen. They hold them, waiting for instructions, and ask Sam if this is what non-magical people do, eat food and show each other. Evan says that’s not super common, and Sam proceeds to give a demonstration, telling them to eat as loud as they can. One of the students say their mother wouldn’t approve, but Sam points out that their parents aren’t there. This is a revelation, as none of the students seemed to have put that together, and begin to realize they can make their own choices. Sam begins to see threads connecting her and the students, and she explains to the other Misfits what she’s seeing. Evan suggests that Sam is probably the coolest person they’ve met, and although she laments that she should’ve had cooler hair, Evan says that even as it is, it’s probably the coolest hair they’ve ever seen. One of them affirms this to be true, and then asks to touch her hair. Sam says no, and Dream immediately starts to explain why that is not acceptable in their culture.
Sam continues her demonstration, the common room becoming loud with the sound of chewing. Jammer notes that they can probably do some damage, and Evan thinks he’s vaguely cool in this house. Dream notes that they all have common sense, something that the other students seem to lack. Evan notes that the kid that snitched on them seemed to be pro-institution, which is odd for a teenager, and that systems fail children all the time, and on the whole, they should be opposing the institution. He then notices that there is a group of students writing down what he’s been saying. Sam tells them to quit telling their mothers everything, and a student, Peter, says their mom is their best friend. Peter then asks if they have best friends, and Dream says it’s their group, and the rest confirm this, putting Evan nearly in tears. Peter asks if he’d like a hug, and Evan declines, despite being touch-starved.
Jammer notes the power that they seem to have over the other students, and then asks Peter what happens the next day. Peter explains that they’ll go to the dorm and sleep that night, then in the morning, there will be a book with their schedules in it. Given that they’re all the same age, they’ll go to the same classes. Jammer asks if they have to wear their robes, which quickly devolves into a conversation about how Jammer isn’t asking if he can be naked. Evan notes that this is the best day of his life, and continues to be. Peter accidentally sets Evan off, asking if it was also the best day of his life when he sent Digsby to Hell, and alludes to the fact that other students have been talking about it. Evan gets defensive, saying that he didn’t send anyone to Hell, that Hell isn’t a place people get sunburns, but is “a dark forest, where your dad opens his ribcage and invites you to dance.”
Jammer approaches Evan, saying he has no problem with him going off on Peter, who proceeds to leave, but that Jammer is concerned about Evan. Jammer then notes Dream is biting her wand, who says she needs it to steady herself. Evan explains that it’s bothersome that people are talking about him behind his back, that he has enough going on, that there is plenty that is scary about him, without people making things up on top of it. Dream says that’s how legends start, and Evan says he would be content simply to have lived a normal life. They go to sleep that night, in a large co-ed dorm, with bunk beds.
The next morning, Dr. Norman Boodle comes in to meet them, introducing himself as the head of their house, and the History of Magic professor. He says if they need anything that they can come and find him, and notes that he doesn’t have them in his class this term, but is excited for what the pilot program represents. He lightly chastises Evan for yelling at the younger students, which Evan shows regret for. Boodle gives them notebooks, and tells them that their first class is Potions, which starts soon. Dream laments that he has been the first helpful adult they’ve met, and that there isn’t really any infrastructure in place to help them decide what classes to take, or figure out their new circumstances. Jammer asks about a gym, which Boodle seems confused by, directing him to the scuppers field, completely mystified by the idea of lifting weights, or even practicing sports. Dream notes that there don’t seem to be standard academic classes, such as English, on their schedules, and likely won’t be taught how to write an essay. Boodle confirms that to be the case, and that instead they have Potions, Natura, Applied Evocation, Astro, and then likely History of Magic at some point. He suggests they might also need to take classes on flying a broom.
Dream suggests “M*ggle Studies,” which offends Boodle, although she and Jammer argue that “Namp” sounds worse. Boodle gives her a demerit, chastising her on her language, and that she is a wizard now, and gives her another demerit when she refers to herself as “m*ggle-born.” When she says it the third time, he says that he’ll need to see her after the end of the school day for further punishment. Dream finally manages to ask him about a Namp Skills class, and he confirms there isn’t anything like that here. Sam then asks who will teach them to magic away their poop, and he shows them how. Evan asks if it destroys the poop, but Boodle doesn’t seem to know. There seems to be a Theory of Magic class, but most wizards don’t bother to know the deeper theory. The four let it go, and successfully manage to cast the removal spell on some dirt piles.
Jammer states that History of Magic sounds boring, but that he likes Boodle enough that he might take it. Dream apologizes for saying the m-word, and Boodle says they will deal with it during their disciplinary meeting. Dream realizes that after casting that last spell, her wand has changed completely over into its final form: lilac, with a pink diamond core. She angsts over it looking like “the gendered aisle at Target.” Evan says he would switch with her if he could, and Sam says maybe she can tell people that it’s an ironic wand, and Jammer tries to comfort her as well. Dream says that irony is dead, but Sam points out that the young wizards will believe anything they tell them. Jammer says that he would like to see what his wand looks like, and suggests that he can make a gym with magic. He attempts to summon a bunch of free weights, and create them with the power of his magic, but given the complexity of the spell, it goes poorly, and instead summons a massive spike of iron up through the stone floor of the dorm. Evan manages to push Sam and Dream out of the way, but the spike cuts his thigh in the process. As he bleeds, he warns them not to touch his blood, as a snake made of his blood comes out of his body.
Staring down the blood cobra, Sam tries to talk to it. While it doesn’t understand her words, she does manage a charm effect, and the snake begins to match her unbothered energy, receding back into Evan’s leg. Evan is amazed by this, and Dream is touched by his willingness to sacrifice himself for them. While she doesn’t know how to do healing magic, she tries to heal his cut, and manages to cauterize it. Although it is painful, Evan admits that he usually has to burn his wounds shut as well. Dr. Boodle, hearing the commotion, comes back in, and tells them to go to class, and not to do magic until they’ve learned more. Additionally, due to the ruckus Jammer caused, he will need to see him after school as well. Jammer apologizes to the group, and Dream makes sure Sam is okay after their encounter. Evan, still amazed, says that he usually has to eat the snake to get it back in his body. Dream accidentally insults Evan, and he storms out crying. Jammer and Sam try to comfort Dream, and remind her that Evan is new to having friends, and he’s a bit eccentric. Jammer suggests that they head to Potions, where they will meet up with him.
Potions Class[]
Due to the odd configuration of the castle, despite leaving early, they almost don’t make it in time, even with the classroom being relatively close to the common room. When they arrive, they notice they are taking this class with Hercinil, including The Trio, who seem to taunt them for having to sit in the front. Jammer secures them the final table, beside a large cauldron. Dream says it’s odd that The Trio seem to look down on their studies, since potions can do all sorts of cool things. In the middle of her praise for the subject, they hear an excited “Exactly!” with no obvious source. After some confusion, they realize that their teacher, Professor Viniscus, is literally the cauldron, who asks if they are the exchange students. She tells Evan not to touch her, as she is very hot, since she is boiling, and Evan notes that it wouldn’t matter, prompting Dream to write in her notebook that he is “resistant to heat.” Dream asks the professor if it is possible to learn to make poisons, and the professor says that it’s possible, but dark work.
Sam suggests they get her a poison ring, and Dream mentions Lucrezia Borgia, and Professor Viniscus chimes in that she was a very bad student, and “couldn’t make a potion for a damn.” Dream’s enthusiasm is piqued, asking which other famous people have come to Gowpenny, but the professor states she couldn’t really tell her, since her entire perspective of the world is limited to the cauldron, and doesn’t read books. Dream and Jammer begin to list celebrities, and eventually correctly guess that Criss Angel, Mindfreak, is a real wizard, who had gone to Gowpenny, whom the professor notes was “such a nice boy.” Sam posits that she could be the next Mindfreak. The professor then says they should start class, and today they will be learning a potion of minor healing, since she’s unable to assist them if they harm themselves. She evaporates the potion within herself, which then populates the chalkboard with instructions on how to make the potion, but explains nothing else. The Misfits, left on their own to work, are confused by the metric system. Dream asks Siri for help, and Evan hears a dark voice coming from her phone, which he recognizes as one of the demons that possesses him. Evan tries to figure out what’s happening, but cannot, then tries to play it off to his friends.
They are approached by Lemli Irving, who asks them how they’re doing, since she hasn’t seen any of them turn on their fires yet. She introduces herself, remarking that she’s in their house. The four concede that they are in over their heads. Lemli warns them that they only have about an hour, and that their professor has a mean side as well, but that she understands that they are missing about five years of instruction on potion-making, and that the school didn’t prepare them very well. She offers to help them find ingredients, and on their way to the supply cupboard, she avoids everyone else’s cauldrons. She gives them some tips on how to pick out ingredients, and then hands them everything they’ll need. They make small talk, and she walks them back to their table, and helps them with their potion. Together, they manage to make the potion very well, and barely need Lemli’s help at all. Jammer compares it to making a protein shake, discussing it in chemistry terms, which Lemli doesn't find familiar.
They thank her for their help, and she says that if they need anything else, she’s in the back with Frink and the Undergus twins. Jammer tells her how he calls them “the Oggles,” and she laughs, which sounds like gurgling water, alerting Dream to the fact she is a mermaid, which she confirms. She says it’s not really a big deal, but she would appreciate if they didn’t splash her, as if she gets wet, she can’t get her legs back until she’s dry. Dream is overjoyed, and tells Lemli that humans have folklore that must be slander. However, Lemli confirms that she loves to drown sailors to death, but that it’s harder now since ships don’t really let her see the men inside, but that she still loves to sink them when she can. She then shows them her wand, which looks as though it’s made from water, and relates it to Dream’s, and that she likes it. She admits to thinking Dream was a vampire at first, further delighting Dream with the revelation that vampires are real, but Lemli points out that vampires can’t go to their school, since they have to be awake at night. She tells them they can hang out later, and that she needs to return to her potion, since she hasn’t started yet.
Jammer tries their potion, and reacts strongly, stating that it's disgusting, although he feels incredible. Dream’s familiar, Theodore, offers him a thermos of tea, which seems to help. Evan asks if he should try some due to the wound on his leg, and Jammer suggests maybe they flavor the potion. Evan gags at the taste, but his leg is fully healed. Jammer then asks the cauldron if he can take some of the potion back, since he’s trying to make a gym. She asks if she was able to make the potion, since there isn’t any left for her to see their attempts. She asks Lemli to confirm that they were able to make the potion, and she does, but then grows shy, and sits down, saying that she doesn’t want to be perceived. The cauldron asks if they have any bit of it left at all, they can drop it into the cauldron for grading. They are able to get a tiny bit, and she praises them for good work, impressed that they were able to do that on their first day. Dream mentions that it’s dangerous, and that they have the potential to create a nuclear warhead, which the professor is unaware of. Dream tries to continue the line of conversation, but Viniscus gets annoyed that they seem to be making fun of her ignorance, and challenges them to a fight, if they would like. Jammer advises the group that it’s not a battle worth fighting, and the professor dismisses them.
On their way out, Jammer clocks that The Trio are struggling with the potion, and while they will get a solid B, the Misfits receive an A-. Jammer rubs it in, offering to help the three, and Dream rubs in that clearly their inherited skills and privilege have not helped them, and Evan adds that the Misfits actually understand how things work, not just going off of repetition. Digsby comments that all he hears when Evan talks is snake sounds, because he’s an evil wizard who should’ve gone to Aqrabus. Jammer excuses them, and Evan laments that he tried to trash talk, but only got his feelings hurt, but Jammer assures him that it’s alright and that he did well.
Leaving the room, they run into and meet The Frunthwinkle, their Natura professor, in the hall, swishing branches in the air. They are distracted by her actions, and she comes to them, bows, looking both aged and ageless, older, but well-kept. She greets them, and asks how their day is going, and the Misfits introduce themselves. She offers them branches, and notes that they are not as resistant to her energies as other people are. Evan does find it calming, and Sam asks if she can rub people with tree branches as well. The Frunthwinkle offers Sam a piece of one of her branches, Sam takes it, and she explains how the cycles of energies work. Sam feels the vibe, and explains her crystals and intention magic to The Frunthwinkle, who asks her if it is magic, or goal-setting. Sam explains that it’s magic, but not in the way that they’re doing at Gowpenny, which The Frunthwinkle understands to be vibes, and accepts is as something that feels good for Sam. Sam, who has been following her movements the whole time, is advised to cast something.
Sam casts a spell to duplicate the branch, which works, and The Frunthwinkle, sensing what is about to happen, takes the branches back, which turn back into one branch. Sam realizes that her wand has become fully formed: a reflective chrome microphone, cherry wood, with a mirror core, and whenever she looks into it, she gets a perfectly angled reflection. With The Frunthwinkle gone, Jammer comments that her class will likely be very easy. Sam wonders if she should change her name to something more magical, but the conversation is joined by Khanh Nguyen, the fourth person of The Trio, telling her that she should be careful about changing her name. She explains that in wizard society, she goes by “Cleopatra St. Oppolie,” because no one at the school can say her real name. The Misfits ask her if she comes from a Namp family, and she says that her family is a mixture. The group empathizes that it’s unfortunate that she has to fully assimilate into wizard culture in such a way, but Khanh points out it’s like that even in the Namp world. The Misfits say that isn’t how things have to be, and ask her to hang out with them if she’d like, and she replies that the houses intermingling isn’t normal, but that it sounds nice, and that The Trio are “the fucking worst.” She also mentions that Evan is a legend for what he did to Digsby, and assures him that most of the students think it was a positive thing.
They explain the events of the morning, and Khanh suggests that iron spikes and snake blood sound like Aqrabus things, and Evan explains he thinks there’s a lot of bad things going on in wizard culture, and that he’s already fed up with it. Evan then says he’d like to go to the nurse’s office, but Khanh reminds him that they have to go to their Applied Evocation class. Evan asks what kind of spells those are, and she explains that it’s about making constructs, and dueling, and big magic, which excites Jammer, promising Evan that they can go to the nurse afterwards. Evan expresses hesitation, but the girls convince him to go. Dream tells him that their approval of him isn’t hinged on him going, but that the group would love if he went. They bid goodbye to “Cleo,” but ask what she would prefer to be called. She affirms that she would prefer to be called Khanh, and her demeanor changes, genuinely happy. She then teaches them a spell to send her a message. Jammer manages to cast the spell, successfully sending her a scrap of paper. After she leaves, Jammer expresses attraction to her, and the group thinks she feels the same way.
Applied Evocation[]
The bell rings, and they head to their next class, able to follow the flow of traffic of the other students. Upon arrival, they hear a massive bang, screams, and see a fire coming out from the door, forcing them back.
