The Clinton Hill Chantry is a branch of the Gramercy Occult Society lead by Esther Sinclair, and is the location of the apartment where she lives with Ricky Matsui. It is guarded by Frank the gargoyle who works as a door knocker.

Description[]

The Chantry is located on a corner in Clinton Hill. It is a beautiful old three story brownstone building full of dusty parlors, bunks, and multiple library rooms with big tables, old leather-bound books and magical items, including the map of the Highway Hex that Esther shows to Ricky. It is much smaller and less impressive than the headquarters, as the inside is the same size as the outside and gravity acts in the usual direction. On top of the building is a miniature clock tower, the face of which is frosted glass. On the other side of the clock is an apartment where Ricky and Esther live.

Ricky's apartment[]

The massive, open concept apartment is littered with plants. The wall opposite the clock face has windows which are lined with rows of suspended plants. The interior is decorated with lovely furniture, a big old TV, magic books, floating, hovering, arcane things. There are huge, beautiful, deep, dark, reclaimed wood shelves that are structured similar to a chic exposed pipe and brick style which hold huge collections of tomes. On Esther's bedside table is on her bedside table, along with a glass of water, a humidifier, and a pair of glasses and a pair of contact. Her silver baseball bat arcane focus leans up against it. Over in a corner is a huge workout area with a ton of weights.

Background[]

Before the events of The Unsleeping City, Ricky Matsui saved the wizards of the Clinton Hill Chantry from a fire and was inducted into the unsleeping city by the Questing Blade, which burst through the glass case it was kept in and presented itself to him.
