The Cricket is a talking cricket that was killed by Pinocchio and appears after his death. He is later summoned by Pinocchio as his new familiar.

Description[]
Before he became a familiar, the Cricket was a ghostly insect with long legs and a squeaky voice. After Pinocchio adopted him as his familiar, he became more solid. He deeply cares for Pinocchio even after being killed by him. Mechanically, he has a flying speed of 60 feet, and can go invisible.
Background[]
The Cricket was responsible for guiding Pinocchio morally after he was first gifted life. Pinocchio grows tired of his help and smashes him with a mallet.
History[]
Once Upon a Time[]
The Cricket greets Pinocchio in the afterlife as a ghost after trying to shoo off the bugs eating his body. The cricket continues even after death to make sure Pinocchio stays good so he can become a real boy.
The Baron of Bricks[]
Pinocchio uses his strings to pull the Cricket out of his own book as his new familiar.
Big and Bad/A Warm Heart and a Tombstone/Terror on Toy Island[]
Cricket acts as Pinocchio's companion and familiar, doing mundane things like helping the wooden boy find hotdogs on Toy Island. He is ultimately killed when he is eaten by Il Terribile Pescecane ie the giant dogfish that eats Pinocchio's story.
Daughters of the Crown[]
From inside Pinocchio's book, Cricket crawls out, bemoaning the fact that he died. He blamed himself, and the fact that he had drunk water earlier. When he is offered a losenge, Cricket falls asleep on top of it.
Leap of Faith[]
Pinocchio gets Cricket to find PiB since Cinderella is adamant that she be able to see her book which he has.
In the Land of Giants[]
Pinocchio uses Cricket to fight in the battle against the inhabitants of the Land of Giants. He yells, "Don't drink water," every time he attacks or tries to attack someone. At the end of the battle, Pinocchio gives Cricket a firework, and sends him out to kill Alphonse. Combined with PiB and Pinocchio, they ultimately wound him pretty severely, but ultimately decide not to kill the mule.
The Last Wish[]
During the previous fight, Cricket started to get physically off, as though he was increasingly drunk. After the fight, Cricket isn't do so well. However, once Pinocchio forces him to drink some water, he starts to feel better, even starting to sing. He then reassures Pinocchio in for the future confrontation with the Princesses/Fairies by pointed out, "What choice do you have?" ie that it's going to happen eventually, so you can't spend life worrying about it, and helps Pinocchio imagine a world after the final battle. Cricket then apologizes to Pinocchio that the people in his life made him think that he couldn't be a "real" boy unless he was perfect.
The Ending of All Things (Part 1)[]
Pinocchio calls forth Cricket to help in the battle against the Princesses. He is immediately hit with necrotic damage from Snow White's dwarves, and dies instantly. His last words to Pinocchio are, "Drink whiskey."
Trivia[]
- According to Lou Wilson in the Adventuring Party episode We'll See You In The Soup, Cricket has Pseudodragon stats instead of imp stats as it felt 'more right' than having trickery and shape-shifting abilities.
- He does not like water. At all.
- When Pinocchio finally forces Cricket to drink some water, his voice deepens, and he begins to sing When You Wish Upon a Star. This is the song sung by Jimminy Cricket in the Disney animated version of Pinoochio.
