The Crown of the Nightmare King is an ancient and powerful artifact that appear to be a remnant of the Nightmare King after the fall of Kalvaxus. It was known as a talisman, capable of taking an extraplanar being and anchoring them to a world to make them effectively native to that realm.
It acted as a powerful source of the Nightmare King's influence in Sylvaire such that the combine efforts of several heroes in removing the it from its wearer's head allowed them to stop the spread of the cursed forest.

Description[]
History[]
The crown is a powerful talisman that allowed the Nightmare King to anchor himself to the mortal plane and disguise himself as a native being, instead of being detected as extraplanar. It was instrumental in his defeat, as although he couldn't be permanently destroyed, the magic on the Nightmare King's Crown was dispelled, likely banishing him back to the plane he was from.
After the Nightmare King was defeated, his crown was taken to Solace to be kept safe. The people living of the border of Sylvaire believed it to be held in an extremely high security location, a vault under a pyramid for example, when in fact it was kept in a dude's office*, on a shelf, right next to the lost and found box.
Shortly before the events of Prompocalypse, it was stolen from the Aguefort Adventuring Academy by Arianwen Abernant and taken across the Celestine Sea to Sylvaire. During their sophomore year, the Bad Kids are tasked with retrieving it as 60% of their final grades.
The Bad Kids follow the trail around Spyre in their attempt to track it down.
- Note: Surprisingly, the Crown of the Nightmare King is not the same as all other crowns, and as such, cannot easily be replaced with random pirate crowns you might find in Leviathan, or ones you make yourself out of seafood. This being said, it can't hurt to get some crown-destroying under your belt.
