Description[]
Darren is a muscular barrel-chested, rough-and-tumble looking man. He has a triangular-shaped head with an oblong face, and within is a mixture of cheese, meat, spinach, and eggs (which he sometimes eats). He wears dark grey and brown leather armor, thick gauntlets, a brestplate, and a long, thick, reeded cloak. He's not very good at social cues and expectations, preferring to sit back and assess the people around him.
Background[]
Darren has been working with the FDA for about fifteen years, taking out numerous problematic high ranking and even royal officials. Quichéi is very well known by his fierce reputation, Colin Provolone in particular hearing many stories of people who had fallen to the man. He also recalls seeing Darren around the Dairy Islands. His work with the Fellowship of Destiny's Architects is not so much about any moralistic integrity, but for the money.
History[]
Bloody Harvest[]
In order to help the the Scrumptious Scoundrels in their mission to assassinate a dangerous political operative, The Fellowship of Destiny's Architects hire Darren as an ally to the cause. When they first meet the mercenary, he tells the team that they need to be "properly outfitted" for the job, and tosses them a watersteel dagger.
He later reveals that he has been working with the Fellowship off-and-on for about fifteen years at that point, learning that there are at least thirty members of the secret organization from all over Calorum. While sometimes they have contacted him at inopportune times, their jobs have ultimately been very lucrative for him.
Yonder Where the Fruit Do Be Lyin'[]
In continuation with their mission from the FDA, Dishless helps the Scrumptious Scoundrels prep and carry out the assassination they were tasked to do. Specifically, he helps cut down the tree with Thane Delissandro Katzon to block off the party's caravan, He also helps Katzon push the tree down across the bridge that the envoy is riding across, killing a few of the carriage's cherry mounts in the process. He also is the first to attack, hitting one of the carriage's drivers with his swords. Later, climbs though the carriage window, and attacks the waffle cone guard inside, weakening him enough to be killed by a spell from Bishop Raphaniel Charlock. His final kill is one of the envoy's knights. Having been pushed into the grape juice river, he tries tries to climb into a passing boat. Dishless leaps down, breaking the knight's arm before stabbing him to death in the water. The mercenary then pulls the body back onto the boat, stating, "It's important to send a message." After the attack is over, Quichéi leads the team up towards a crevasse, and away from detection. Here they encounter and kill a person made of mold. Intreged by the impossibility of this being, Darren leaves, despite the gang's protests, towards where the mold person was trying to flee to. Along with Provolone and Katzon, the three make their way to a cavern. While Colin stays at the entrance, Dishless leads the way as they explore what's within. Back at camp, he creates a bundle out of his cloak with the body of the mold man, and, with the others, heads out back to their mounts and to Comida. When they arrive, Dishless leads them back to the Great Pyramid of Food, summoning the Architects as they arrive, and telling them of their victorious mission. After their business with the FDA is finished, Quichéi follows the Architects out, the gang catching him beginning to tell them of the world of rot they had found.
The Heart of the World[]
Quichéi is with Senator Ariana Gemelli and Archbishop Camille Colliflour within the Heart of Saprophus while they attempt to carry out the plans of the FDA. However, when Colliflour reveals that she was using everyone to summon her god of destruction, Deus-Pa'Zuul, she transforms into his avatar. In her new form, she creates garbage disposal drains around the room. Dishless is the first to be sucked down into the drain's void, and destroyed.
