Faeries and Feces, also called Faeries and Fathers on Youtube, is the thirteenth episode of season 3, The Unsleeping City.

Recap[]

"Last we left off, our intrepid heros had just slain Titania, the Queen of the Seelie Fairies, on stage at the premier of Midsummer Nights, starring Misty Moore. Misty retreated to her dressing room where she is enveloped in a cocoon of light, and the rest of our gang we left on stage, after their holidays and various adventures in Nod and beyond."

Synopsis[]

Sondheim says they're all heroes then vanishes into thin air. Em and Ester leave. The group go to Misty's dressing room, when they see glowing light form around the door they warn her assistant off and then break down the door. She is suspended in midair looking like a far more alien ideal of an elf. Before they can close the door again, they are all sucked into the room and they find themselves in Nod. Misty begins to settle into a more youthful form. She says she does this every seventy years or so. Alissa looks round the open door, not seeing Nod, but sees instead the husk of Misty's old form on the floor and starts CPR, it begins to disintegrate to her horror.

They hear a fae conclave being called and Nod floats creepily towards them. They walk to FAO Schwartz. There are various groups of fae gathering because of the death of a fairy queen. Bobby Goodfella greets Misty who is thinking of taking Rowan as hew new name. Nod is sitting on a cushion by themself as a representative of their own court. The Clockgnomes, Bilbry and High Priestess Hib-Hob arrive. Pete and Sofia go off to see what's happening at hell. Nod calls the conclave to order as the monarch of a neutral territory to witness the rebirth of Rowan Berry and the creation of her domain. One of the minor pixies, Aquamarine congratulates her and Misty emphasises that she only acted because she was attacked.

Puck brings tidings from Lord Oberon wants her to return the crown to the Unseely as they are in part defined by their opposition to he Seely and says that in exchange Oberon will grant her exclusive domain over New York and three boons. When she questions why she a member of the Seely would give the crown to the Unseely and the stinginess of the offer Aquamarine emphasises that they just want her to re-form the court in New York. Puck disputes Rowan's place among the Seely as she gets her renewal "vampirically", but she says that she spreads hope and good feelings, which Nod agrees with and shows them visions of people who adored Misty the world over.

The Clockgnomes offer to reshape the crown to something more to her liking. Rowan says that they aren't talking about a realm in a monarchy, but the US, a democracy. Nod conjures the apparatus for a vote between the three options. Nod gives ballots to the other members of the party. Ricky asks what the crown would be forged into by the Clockgnomes. The vote starts Kingston votes to give it to the crown to the Seelie, Ricky, Kugrash and Misty to the Gnomes. Aquamarine cries when the vote comes back Gnome and Misty invites Aquamarine to work for her and it agrees to do so in exchange for a favour. They want the favour to be the return of the shoes. Misty agrees to give up the shoes only when a suitable replacement arrives.

Pete and Sofia arrive at the growth that Kugrash had described, strung out dollars and cents in congealed blood, it doesn't appear to be created by a malicious entity, but it has been spread by them. It is being tapped for energy. Sofia collects a sample in a lip gloss container. Pete see that some of it is coming from his bag. When he shoots it he sees a vision of a man being executed for trying to escape the criminal operation that produced it. They catch the train from Dreamland to the waking world.

At the Clinton Hill Chantry they see Frank. Esther has Don Confetti trapped in a runic circle. He is brave only until the door closes. Under Ricky's zone of honesty Confetti says he was sent by Titania to oversee some fairy business in the city, but after he arrived in the city he fell in with Robert Moses. When he was in NY he stopped paying his dues to Titania as she couldn't get to him due to the highway hex. When Robert Moses found out he wasn't paying he had him "done for tax evasion". He was paying his tithe directly to Isabella Infierno but it turns out she wasn't passing it on. Misty tells them about Robert's visit. Santa's List was taken to square Robert's name with heaven as they don't buy souls so can't be paid off the way he's dealt with heaven and fairy. Ester knows of a missing artefact that might be able to locate wherever Robert's trying to secure his domain, Kingston thinks he might know how to find it. Confetti says that Isabella herself killed Dale. They think Robert is going to build the lock in NY to use Sinatra's Law to overrule Nods prohibition of anyone creating a lock in the land of Dreams.

Pete Sofia, Esther and Ricky stay behind to watch Killing Eve and Kingston and Kugrash head off to see Lowell Masters. His apartment is full of artefacts. Kingston asks if Lowell still has the eagle, he sits uncomfortably. After Kingston talked to him Lowell realised that he could perceive the magical world if he wanted to and that he had an ability to identify magical artefacts if they were inside him. He says that he sold the artefact to an elemental called Buddy. Kingston knows that Buddy is going to be at Willy's card game tomorrow. Lowell gives Kugrash a mink coat for warmth.

The next morning they receive belated Christmas gifts. Kugrash gets a Rolex, Rowan gets a silver necklace that had similar magical properties to the shoes, but without the ability to cast irresistible dance. Ricky gets a fire engine red Maserati. At the Chantry Sofia practices with her Louis Vittons which gives her the ability to jump long distances, she spars briefly with Esther and they go for coffee. Kugrash and Wally make Wally a new OkCupid account. David arrives with some groceries and spots Kugrash before he can disguise himself as a dog. Kugrash dispels magic enough that David can perceive him as a rat man rather than an oversized rat. He tells David who he is and that he was cursed rather than ran away. David promptly faints and Kugrash puts some of the topping from the bagel in his mouth to open his mind a little. Kugrash described his life after being turned and eventually realising what a terrible person he was. He tells David that he's currently going after Robert Moses, but David interprets this as a request for a favour and storms out. Kugrash goes to do his rounds among the homeless.

Em joins Esther and Sofia at the coffee shop. Esther asks about Ricky, she is meant to become the third fury of Tompkin Square Park because her family is cursed, her Mother is the fury of rage, her Grandmother the Fury of despair. Esther's mother tried to leave the city and leave magic behind, but was sold out by a rat of a person and reached for her magic and got lost to the curse (Kugrash overhears this). Esther will be triggered by loss and she's trying to stop getting too attached to anyone in order to not become a fury.

Sofia, Pete, Rowan, Ricky, Kugrash and Kingston all attend Willy's card game, along with an earth elemental that Kugrash has summoned. Buddy is there, also in attendance is a stained glass saint from a church and spirits of the red hand and green man pedestrian crossing signs. Kingston convinces Buddy to (literally) cough up the eagle as part of the stake when he can't match Kingston's bet. Kingston wins it. Esther starts working on trying to use it to figure out where Robert is doing his magical workings.

'Rowan' is approached by Alissa with some of Misty's things. She says that Robert Moses was the one who sent the mirror to the stage. Rowan takes her on as her assistant as Alissa is freshly unemployed.

Kingston takes his nieces and nephews to the Met for a school project. He is accosted by Robert Moses who makes ominous comments about his family he says that if the other members of the party don't leave the city he's going to kill them all, that change is coming and that the old New York and the people in it are all going to be gone. Kingston slaps him. As Moses leaves he tells Kingston to check his phone which has a message for Kingston to go to the hospital. When he arrives he finds out that that was a distraction while he had his ex wife worked over. After fending off the doctors he manages to heal some of the physical damage, but there is a curse being actively pushed against her. Esther is rushing towards a simultaneous attack on the library she says the stock exchange is the place the big spell will be tonight. Ricky is unable to dispel the curse, but sees a flash of Yankee Stadium. With Rowan's help they stabilise her.

They head toward the stock exchange and slip past suspiciously unobservant guards. Robert is waiting for them.
