Fallinel is the ninth episode of Fantasy High: Sophomore Year.

Recap[]

"Last we left off our intrepid heroes, they had teleported from the pirate city of Leviathan to the elven lands of Fallinel. You see our intrepid heroes are on their Spring Break mission to retrieve the Crown of the Nightmare King. Their adventure brought them to Bastion City and the Hotel Cavalier, to the pirate city of Leviathan, and has now brought them to the elven land of Fallinel where their companion and friend Adaine Abernant has been seized by elven authorities as the elven oracle and is being kept along with her sister, Aelwyn Abernant, in Calethriel Tower."

"We have not gone over to Calethriel Tower. We have instead gone to the lands of the Lomenelda, which is Fabian's mom's family, here in Fallinel. The quest continues with the crown of the Nightmare King and we venture back into the world of Spyre. Ayda Aguefort raises her hands. Runes of fire sweep around you and the Hangvan, with the disanimated body of the Hangman still atop it. Ragh Barkrock, Gilear Faeth, Sandra Lynn Faeth, Tracker O'Shaughnessey, and Cathilda the Black, along with five of our intrepid heroes, oh and Boggy and Baxter, as-- no, Boggy’s with you. Baxter the Griffin, appear in deep and ancient forests."

Synopsis[]

This week's episode starts as Ayda Augefort transports our heroes from Leviathan to Fallinel, appearing in an ancient forest. They observe the forest in its pristine beauty, and a deer that cries stardust passes. Convinced it's the beast the she asked Arthur Aguefort to make her, Fig Faeth takes a fresh clove and lays it on the ground as an offering after initially scaring it away. Telemaine Lomenelda appears and comments on her "deposit" on the pristine forest floor. Fig argues it's all natural. He introduces himself, and Fabian recognizes him as his grandfather. The Bad Kids discuss how he pronounces Fabian's name, and Telemaine gets rather emotional. Riz is put on edge by elven chanting that emerges from the forest around them, and Sandra Lynn Faeth assures her daughter, Fig that they are not half this. They're wood elves. Big difference.

Gilear Faeth approaches and addresses Telemaine, complimenting him on how clean the woods are kept. Telemaine appreciates that the party is being escorted by elves and that they've brought his grandson. Fabian tells him about their adventure, and about their missing friend. Telemaine laments that Fabian's human blood has brought mortality to their family, and that someday, he will die. He bursts into (moaning, very static) sobs.

The gang questions Telemaine him about the elves that took Adaine, but he avoids the subject at first. He does inform that gang that the Abernant's have had all of their wealth and possessions seized by the Court of Stars. He thinks the Abernants were callous and cruel, and power hungry, and doesn't understand why they left Fallinel. He thinks Angwyn is a crass and small man. They learn that Kei Lumennera is basically a High School for teenage elves going through a violent, stupid phase of their lives, where they are kept in control using sorrowful music and magic. Telemaine informs them that Calethriel Tower is to the immediate north of Kei Lumennera and the gang decides to take a rest before they go to get Adaine back

After Tracker sets up the Moon Haven so the gang can rest uninterrupted, she and Kristen get in an argument about Sandra Lynn sleeping with Garthy, eventually causing Tracker to walk away angrily. Kristen and Sandra Lynn talk about what happened, but Kristen gets drunk on her whiskey and they end the conversation.

While that is happening, Fig and Gilear have a conversation about Sandra Lynn as well. Gilear tells Fig that her mother's adventuring party was actually older than her, as she was a replacement for one who died. She had actually fallen in love with one of the members, but they happened to be married to another member of the same party. The person she fell in love with was not kind or faithful and when the party found out, Sandra Lynn's name was smeared so she could not join any other party. Fig and Gilear share a moment and hug each other.

Kristen leaves to find Tracker and apologizes. Tracker tells her that the reason Kristen did not tell her is because she is obsessed with finding the right thing to do or the right way to say something to the point where she becomes inactive and stalls and delays. Kristen attempts to give her the flowers and talks about how they are going to make up, and Tracker gets even angrier and throws the flowers down.

Telemaine offers to have Fabian made another eye, which Fabian agrees to. While they are talking, Fig realizes that Telemaine might be Gilear's future father in law. Telemaine and Gilear start getting to know each other. Ragh has met an elf around their age and is hanging out with him in Gilears room. Gorgug pays Ayda to send a message to Zelda.

We cut over to Calethriel Tower where Adaine has been trapped in a giant floating orb so she can not Trance to regain her spells. Adaine casts dispel magic and the orb disappears. She makes a run for it, trying to hide in Aelwyn's room. Aelwyn sees her come in but she lies to the guard, saying that she doesn't know where Adaine is. Once the guard leaves, Aelwyn questions Adaine on her things and if she has any spells left. She doesn't. Aelwyn tells her that her things would probably be in the vault downstairs. Adaine tells her that it is barbaric what they have done to her. Aelwyn apologizes for everything that she has done to Adaine. Adaine says that their parents hurt them both with their actions, and that they are bad people, Aelwyn asks if that could be what made them great, to which Adaine replies that expectation without love is not good. Adaine is then recaptured and put back in her orb, but it is within range to be able to comunicate with Aelwyn still. They start trying to figure out how to get out.

Gorgug gets Ayda to send his message, but Zelda does not respond. Kristen and Gorgug have a talk where they discuss their relationship problems. They reassure each other and tell each other that they are good friends.  They all sleep and wake up refreshed.

They head out from the forest, but Telemaine appears at the edge. He warns them that there will be great violence if they descend on Calethriel, and that it will be very difficult. They ask Telemaine if he can see Kalina in the picture, but are shocked when now Kristen can see Kalina as well.

Zelda returns a message to Gorgug, saying that she was at a party. Ayda does not understand why Fig says that was manipulative, so Fig explains that it seems rather manipulative.

The party start planning their attack, they intend to split the party in three with two groups attacking the pylons that funnel magical energy towards the tower and one retrieval party to rescue Adaine. Based on Telemaine's disgusted reaction to Riz's gun they think the Elven defenses will be almost entirely magical and that they might consider physical attacks so beneath them that they might not bother to protect against them.

Angwyn speaks to Adaine telling her that she should cooperate with him despite him never having done anything to help her. He claims he does not want her to be executed but sees no problem with how he has treated her sister and that he isn't torturing her even though it has previously been established that she is near death from exhaustion. When he claims that as elves things like legal council are beneath them Adaine attempts to claim the privileges of adoptive country (after he parents abandoned her) and her school, triggering a generic recorded message from Arthur Aguefort with threats for those who violate the rights of his students. When Kir refuses the offer in the message the alarm sounds.
