Fearful Symmetry is the eighteenth episode of Fantasy High: Sophomore Year.
Recap[]
"Guys, last we left off, our intrepid heroes were deep in the Forest of the Nightmare King. They had to escape from the clutches of Kalina back to Arborly to cure Kristen Applebees of the curse. Working together quickly and efficiently to save their party cleric, they returned to the Tinkerer's Hall where they identified the Infaethable Bass and got Gorgug a sweet new magic axe."
"Made their way back into the forestall the way to the Temple of the Unnamed Goddess, where they found many skeletons, including the skeleton of a unicorn in a chapel to a faceless goddess. Discovering the runes, and scrolls left by Arianwen Abernant in this chamber, Adaine has just cracked the nature of the four lesser curses of Sylvaire. Knowing what they are, and what they do, including the most mysterious of the four, the one based on the tree, which was the broomstick of the goddess, which commands the forest and turns away would be travelers, like a labyrinth, from its center, if you go in any direction but the direction of your greatest fears."
"This eureka, this incredible breakthrough, these curses that you've been studying was soon thereafter followed by an incredible religious catharsis on the part of Kristen Applebees who managed to contact something beyond, and immediately thereafter something contacted her by way of a horn through her heart. So the unicorn came to life. The unicorn, the skeletal unicorn leapt to its feet and gored Kristen Applebees through the heart, as she fell dead. This is the exact moment that we come back to."
Synopsis[]
Fabian Seacaster is the first to act. He watched Kristen Applebees get impaled through the heart by a unicorn, and he goes to tell the others. The group runs to Fabian and he runs back to the room Kristen was in he runs into a mirror, breaking it, and making the realization that the door no longer exists instead a stone wall is behind the mirror. Fig Faeth casts phantasmal force on herself to get into the room. Gorgug attempts to hit the stone wall with his new axe. Gorgug successfully takes down the wall on a second hit. Fig finds herself in a dark hallway and looking back the way she came she is looking up at her friends. The rest of the team is looking down at the shattered mirror and is seeing Fig in the shattered mirror. Adaine Abernant casts mending on the mirror and this allows Fig to leap through it back to join her friends. They go through the hole Gorgug made and find the chapel Kristen was in finding her skeleton kneeling infront of the unnamed goddess mural holding stone. The identify spell describes the skeleton as a 800 year old religious relic of Saint Kristen Applebees. Upon further inspection the stone the skeleton is holding are stone pieces reflecting the bad kids faces.
The bad kids decide that it is time to face their biggest fears in order to find a real Kristen. Riz Gukgak books it into the forest without any plan because his biggest fear is to do things without a plan. While Fig, Gorgug, Adaine, and Fabian smoke the dusk moss and Fig drinks some whisky. Adaine, Fabian, Fig, Gorgug, Gukgak, and Riz all face their biggest fears within the forest of the Nightmare King.
Fig and Riz find themselves bound by spider webs across from eachother somewhere in the forest. Gorgug and Fabian find each other and go through a tunnel and reach a cliff gazing upon a misty ocean with pillars of cliffs only connected by weak bridges. Adaine finds herself stuck in an orb prison casted upon her by her Mother Arianwen Abernant.
