Description[]
Fletcher is a pure, snow white rabbit with fluffy cheeks, and a pair of very stiff upright ears, that are also extraordinarily fluffy. He is the son of the late Lord Ignatius Cottonbottom, former head of the British Museum.
Background[]
Around 1860, Fletcher's father, Lord Ignatius, attempted to fake his death in order for Fletcher to get a substantial insurance payout. Unfortunately for them, the plot was put to a stop by Sylvester, earning him a life-long nemesis, as well as a career as a world-famous detective.
In 1893, when Sylvester and his new partner, Daisy D'umpstaire, tracked down the missing diadem belonging to Virginia Chase of the New York City Chases, they discovered that the theft was merely a front for a blackmail operation run by the Cottonbottoms.
Reichenbunny Falls[]
In one of their final confrontations, Sylvester caught up to Fletcher at one of his estates in the Bavarian countryside where he was keeping a stash of munitions in an attempt to turn it into a munitions depot. When Sylvester let him know that he'd alerted the local constabulary, Fletcher told him that "the fox [wouldn't] catch the rabbit" and handcuffed himself to Sylvester.
As soon as he heard the sounds of the German militia coming for him, he pulled Sylvester with him off the side of the falls. Sylvester managed to free himself by picking the lock on the handcuffs and watched Cottonbottom sink to the bottom of the lake, presumably dead.
History[]
A Scandal in Britannia[]
Cottonbottom was seen by both Sylvester Cross and Lars Vandenchomp standing on the docks outside of Loam Hall in a flash of lightning shortly before Squire William Thornwall Brockhollow was murdered. After a scream drew them back inside the house to find the Squire dead, Sylvester informed the Squire's sister, Lucretia Brockhollow, a firm believer in the supernatural, that he'd seen a ghost.
A Time for Clues[]
Although Sylvester proved his well-deserved title of "world's best detective" once again in his investigation of the Study where Squire Badger died, he was thoroughly shaken by the appearance of Fletcher's ghost. As the rest of the guests in Loam Hall disperse and prepare for the night ahead, Sylvester confides in Lars about his deep terror, which Gangie Green, a former employee of the Cottonbottoms, overhears. Sylvester asks what Gangie knows, and Gangie admits he knows nothing.
