For Candia! (Part 1) is the sixteenth episode and part one of the finale of season 5, A Crown of Candy.

“Back where it all began, Castle Candy. The sweet village of Dulcington. You are on your way to arrive here. The ships of the Dairy Islanders, given free passage to deliver the Duchess Primsy Coldbottle to this council at Castle Candy, sail unmolested up the Cola River. Deep below decks, hidden soldiers, forces of the Houses Rocks, Jawbreaker, and Frostwhip. Sailors of House Cheddar, archers, irregulars. On the way up the river, you are stopped momentarily, the first time that you have been stopped, and coming aboard, armored head-to-toe, are the lost Knights of the Order of North-Gumbia. Your sworn brothers who have survived and have been fighting in the Southlands.”
Synopsis[]
As the Dairy ships sail up the Cola River, they are stopped for a first time and are boarded by the Order of North-Gumbia. Theobald catches up with them and commiserate how they need a win. The ships are not far from Castle Candy. Ruby is asked to come to her parent’s quarters. Caramelinda tells her that its time to trust her and tells her of Catherine Ghee’s death and that she is trueborn because Caramelinda and Amethar were married 5 days after Catherine Ghee died. Saccharina is Amethar’s heir but he is still king. They decide to wait to tell anyone else because battles are chaotic and deadly and there is a potential that Saccharina will be killed in the fighting.
The boats sail upriver, and the war council debates when to make their move. They decide to make their move 3 hours before dawn to get themselves cover from archers but allow their siege weaponry and ground forces room to attack. Afterwards, Swifty goes to Saccharina and is admonished for how he and Gooey handled Port Syrup and Cinnamon. He tells her he overheard King Amethar and Queen Caramelinda tell Ruby of their lawful marriage and their intentions to reclaim the throne of Candia. Saccharina seething, says if they had just been honest, they could have worked together to give him the crown back but with this last betrayal she has no more sympathy for the House of Rocks. She asks for Theobald to be brought to her to seek his advice since she does not feel that Swifty can be completely trusted due to his bloodlust. Gooey and Swifty share a look she cannot decipher and Gooey goes to get Theobald. Gooey confronts Theo about his weird behavior towards her and he admits to his attraction to her, and they decide they will act on it after the fighting. Gooey bring Theobald to Saccharina, there Saccharina informs Theobald of Amethar’s rightful claim to his throne. With this information, Theobald tells her his was wrong about Amethar and his love for his family and dedicates himself to her service alone. Saccharina casts Ceremony on Theobald giving him protection for the next 24 hours.
The captain of the peppermint rangers, Liam Wihelmina of the House of Jawbreaker summons up the shadows of Candia, and their ships approach in the dead of night with cloth wrapped oars to slip silently through the Cola River. They dock at the harbor, set up trebuchets and battle ram, and prepare to march through the fields towards Castle Candy. The cavalry of House Rocks and House Jawbreaker march in front of the rest of the troops. Theobald commands his Knights of North-Gumbia, Cumulous leads the Order of the Spinning Star and the marauders, Ruby and Amethar lead House of Rocks troops, and Liam commands the peppermint rangers. Saccharina and Theobald plan to tell Cumulous of the House Rock secrets and then Liam to see where their loyalties lie, anticipating betrayal from Amethar or Ruby. Saccharina confers with the entire group about what Cinnamon's movement should be. Together they decide to move her as close as possible before they send Cinnamon to light the castle walls on fire. Saccharina casts invisibility on her dragon son to try and hide his presence as they fly in the sky waiting to attack.
Before moving Ruby sends Yak up to survey the land. She sees that Dulcington has been bombed out, there are soldiers sleeping in tents in the field, and some guards patrolling the Castle. They get in position and move forward through the field leaving Annabelle and the Dairy Islanders with the trebuchets. Theobald takes this time to tell Cumulous the House Rocks secret and sends Liam a cryptic message. Liam expresses his loyalty to Saccharina, Cumulous acknowledges but makes no commitments either way. As the troops move The soldiers in tents awaken, trumpets are blown, people take to the castle walls lighting torches, and an army has fielded itself outside the castle. Liam and his troop take aim at the Vegetanian archers running up on the wall and inflict a casualty upon them. Theobald raises his sword and shouts “For Candia!” before he and his troops charge forward. Amethar follows with his troops and the House Rocks cavalry rushing for the field tents up the hill. Vegetanian troops musters outside their tents along the Cola River. One of the Vegetanian tents Amethar is headed for musters outside in a smaller force. House Cheddar fires the trebuchets at the ballistae on the castle wall, but misses. Ruby and her troops attack the closest Vegetanian infantry and cuts their force in half. The Jawbreaker cavalry moves in on them as well with Liam's unit moving right behind Theo’s unit. Grissini and his Ceresian forces muster at the top the hill and braces them for assault. Cumulous and his force of marauders and monks sprint through Dulcington.
Saccharina flies on Cinnamon to a ballista and lighting lures the man arming it off the tower. Cinnamon attacks the ballista destroying it. The unit by them fires and horribly misses. A lightly armored, grape looking lady runs away. The remaining ballistae attack Cinnamon but miss. Meatlander mercenaries attack Cumulous’ unit in Dulcington dealing some damage. Liam and his rangers hide behind the Gumbian knights and attack the Ceresians on the hill. Theo and his knights charge further across the field with the rangers staying right behind them. They are fired upon by House Cruller but are missed. Amethar’s unit advances further up the hill with the House Rocks cavalry splitting off and following the Gumbian knights. The House Rocks archers following Cumulous fire upon the Meatlanders, but miss.
Vegetanian cavalry muster and the troops face off against the Gumbian knights. Sir Keradin Deeproot and his Vegetanian knights exit the castle. House Cheddar fires the trebuchets at the ballistae taking out one on an entrance wall and another on a far-left tower. The Vegetanian force in front of Ruby attacks and deal a half casualty. The Jawbreaker cavalry attack leaving only dregs left. Jawbreaker infantries follow the House Rock archers. The Ceresians move forward to face off with Amethar’s unit. Cumulous’ unit go to work on the Meatlanders, and a haunting blue, pink, and purple light swirls up from Dulcington. The House Rocks archers behind them fire upon the Meatlanders as well and together they kill half of them. While Saccharina flies Cinnamon to the remaining ballista on the entrance, she lightning bolts a third of the archers on the wall as they pass over. When they land, Cinnamon attacks and destroys the ballista. The three remaining ballistae on the castle wall attempt to attack Cinnamon but only one deals a small amount of damage. Archers fire at the dragon once again. On the field by Sir Keradin, Plumbeline musters her cavalry. Theo’s unit ready an attack for an approaching Vegetanian cavalry. The House Rocks cavalry flanks them with Liam’s unit hidden behind. Amethar and his unit close with Grissini, they rage and take an attack which the Ceresians dodge. When the Vegetanian cavalry meet the North-Gumbian knights, Theo throws up Swirlwarden and a 40-foot shield flashes across their battlefield smashing into Vegetanian horses. The Vegetanian cavalry along the Cola River attack the House Rocks cavalry and their nearby infantry troops face off. Sir Keradin and his troops advance down the field.
Annabelle and the Dairy Islanders fire the trebuchets at the ballistae on the castle walls, striking one but not dealing enough damage to destroy it. Ruby’s unit hides and attacks the Vegetanian force. Using Flickerish, Ruby gores the commander. The Vegetanian unit screams in horror and scatters into the night. Ruby and her unit march forward behind the Jawbreaker cavalry. The Jawbreaker cavalry charges towards the nearby Vegetanian cavalry, flanking them between Theo's unit. One of the House Jawbreaker troops marches up behind the House Rock archers to aid in the fight with the Ceresians dragging along the battling ram. The other unit lead by Jawbreaker himself charges through a Bulbian church, knocking down holy symbols on the way in, and flank the Ceresian force. Ceresian archers muster and fire upon Amethar’s raging unit dealing a half casualty. Cumulous and his unit attack the Meatlanders once again and leave them stunned. The Meatlander dogs attack Cumulous and his unit. Saccharina and Cinnamon vaults over to the damaged ballista and finish it off while throwing one of the guys manning it off the tower. Archers and remaining ballista once again fire upon Cinnamon but fail.
Plumbeline’s cavalry advance and attack. Plumbeline rides Theo down, knocking him to the ground. Theo looks up at Plumbeline standing over and taunting him only to see both of her eyes explode out of the front of her head. As she drops from the chariot, standing behind her with a misting crossbow is Liam Wilhelmina. Plumbeline of the House Uvano is dead. Liam takes her chariot and Theo shakes his hand on the battlefield.
