Home for the Holidays is the eleventh episode of season 3, The Unsleeping City.

"Gang, last we left our intrepid heroes, they were in a burning art loft somewhere in Bushwick where they had just defeated Isabella Infierno, the lieutenant and fiancee of Robert Moses and the murderer of Dale Lee. Our heroes went their separate ways. Misty back to her penthouse. Kugrash to a little dog bed in Wally's apartment. Sofia back to Staten Island and her house. And Ricky back to his studio and his weights and protein shakes. Kingston and Pete stayed up late listening to jazz and chatting before they each got a first goodnight sleep in a long time."
"It is a bright, sunny morning. It is brick city, a freezing day. One of those days in New York where it's extremely bright and extremely cold. Little bits of dust and wind kick up, cutting through people's coats. We are gonna go ahead and start at Kingston Brown's apartment the following morning."
Synopsis[]
The morning of the 21st Kingston is making breakfast, his parents turn up and meet Pete. At rehearsals Misty has a discussion with her assistant who has arranged the draft of her will as instructed but is very confused by the lack of specificity on who's going to inherit.
Sofia uses an unseen servant to spy on her family. They are discussing the death of her husband and Isabella. Her father says that Confetti is not in charge and they will have to see what the real boss says. Before dismissing he servant she sends it to burn her own house down for the insurance money and goes to a deli for an alibi. Ricky sees the fire at Sofia's house and swims across the river to help put it out. He texts Sofia a selfie of him and her burned out house and says it looks like someone took some of her things and then burned down the house, she tells him she packed because she wasn't planning on being there, but has no idea what happened to the house.
Kugrash and Wally eat hot dogs and cheese string while watching Die Hard. Kugrash hatches a plan to pretend to be Wally's dog on Christmas day so he can see David's family.
At 53\/3N's place Pete senses that some of the drugs have traces of magic on them, but can't tell what it is. He talks about how Pete's bitcoin "investment" is doing well. 53\/3N isn't please with Pete's new knuckle tattoos as they might attract attention. Pete asks if he has ever spoken to Bob Moses, he thinks he's heard of them through their coke supplier. He offers to try to find out more information when he gets the impression that Bob might be someone to muscle in on their business. Pete is starting to see his life in a new light. Pete then works out with Ricky and is very sore.
At the monastery Jackson Wei offers Sofia a room. She unpacks her things in the very spartan room he has set aside. He takes her to Dale's grave. She says she wishes she's had enough time with him to be mad at him for not telling her about the Unsleeping City. He says that the Monastery exists to represent the reality that "it is what it is" remains when the smoke and mirrors clear. Dale was meant to be the chosen one to resist something massive that they expected to appear from the Dreaming.
The next day they all go to Grands Central Terminal. Misty shows them the the best things to eat and takes them to the whispering gallery to meet the Gnomes. Bilbry turns up and shrinks them all to Gnome size and they depart on a hot air balloon made from newspaper. On the way past Bilbry salutes the central clock. When they reach the constellations on the roof the sky becomes real and Pete and Misty fall out. Pete falls in an oyster and Misty misty steps back into the balloon. Kugrash turns into an eagle to collect Pete. The rest reach the train yard of the clockgnomes and revert to normal size. Kugrash rescues Pete and they catch up, also returning to normal size. The trains are part dragon. Bilbry takes them to High Priestess Hib-Hob who says that she recently fainted and one of her most prized holy books disappeared, the Big Book of Bits and Bobbins. It contains schematics for building important religious relics, including the timestones and the things that use them and they also think the thief may be trying to make a new lock for the door. Kingston thinks the High Priestess was hit by a big pixie sleep spell. They don't have anything that magically protects against teleportation. Misty finds some pixie dust. Kugrash uses his bagel to determine that the pixies are long gone, but the dust might be useful. Kugrash employs Perry Pigeon to spy on the pixies.
For Christmas Kingston gets a metro card that looks like it's related to the train to the land of Nod. Kugrash gets Wally a dog for Christmas, he calls it "Dad" after his dad. Kugrash goes to David's house with Wally disguised as another dog David can't understand him when he tries to say who his is.
Sofia goes to her parent's house for Christmas and has an awkward dinner with her parents, she secretly leaves her mother her new phone number.
Ricky is working Christmas day with the Johns and Esther turns up with and asks him to come with her for a trip. They go to Tompkin's Square Park where he sees to old women in robes, her mother and grandmother. they say that she will join them when the needle draws blood. As Esther turns to leave, Ricky says hello to them they try to draw out his darkness but don't find any.
Misty's Christmas party is well attended, Alissa interrupts her conversation with Stephen Sondheim to tell her that there are people at the door, she refuses to invite Robert Moses and his vampires in but suggests a conversation on the roof instead. He offers to broker an agreement between her and the Fairies, but she refuses.
On the opening night of Misty's musical someone has had the mirror brought to the set for the second act. The Confettis in their box are horrified when they see it activate and the real Titania turns up with hew warriors.
