I've Been Here the Whole Time is the seventh episode of season 8, Mice & Murder.
Recap[]
"Gang, last week our animal investigators were all Loam Hall, making a series of wild discoveries. The Vicar Ian Prescott and Ms. Daisy D'umpstaire wended their way from their hiding spot in the séance room into the library, where the good Vicar's knowledge of history allowed them to correctly order the busts of the Roman Emperors: Barkus Aurelius, Pawdius, Pawgustus, Rompie, and Growlius Caesar. The busts being in the correct order, they discovered that these busts were magnetically charged into the room, continuing with the strange electrification of Loam Hall. Based on all this recent work gaining entrance into Squire Badger's study, Daisy D'umpstaire found a Medal of Valour that had been left in the desk by Colonel James Hawkins, as well as a number of ledger books that are now hidden all over her person, and still are.
They were just in time to join the crowd downstairs, with Sylvester making the pronouncement of the Squire Badger's death by shrapnel, a wound that had almost killed him many years ago. And it finally finished its terrible work based on the magnet concealed within the bust of Barkus Aurelius, that had been carefully constructed to create the magnetic burst that pushed the shrapnel into the Badger's heart, but was not so carefully made that they got the date right. Upon running to the dais, Lars Vandenchomp, along with Buckster $ Boyd and Gangie Green, found themselves on the dais. And, thanks to Sylvester speaking on their behalf, it enabled Buckster to make one last persuasion check, and his persuasion check, in him acquiescing to remain under supervision, hit a nat 20, and you all were allowed upstairs. Not before Daisy D'umpstaire laid the earth shattering revelation in front of the assembled party guests that Fletcher Cottonbottom did not die at Reichenbunny Falls.
Our three suspects, Gangie Green, Lars Vandenchomp, and Buckster $ Boyd, were brought to Mrs. Molesly's room, where Dr. Magpie tended to Gangie's injury from their fight at the top of the elevator with a masked figure, at the top of Loam Hall, as Sylvester tended to his boon companion, Lars Vandenchomp. Several things were discussed in this moment, based on a series of incredible insight checks that had occurred during the mass gathering in the ballroom. An insight check made by Lars Vandenchomp into the personal valet of Squire William Thornwall Brockhollow revealed that the valet was not surprised by the revelation that Fletcher Cottonbottom was still alive. And, indeed, this corroborates the fact that Gangie Green had told us long ago that Mr. Harding, wasn't he one giving him the instructions of which bodies to recover from neighboring graveyards? We also had an insight check made by Buckster $ Boyd and Gangie Green against Colonel Hawkins, discovering a shaken man who was shocked to find that Fletcher Cottonbottom was still alive, and, indeed, wondered if he did not possess the means to bring himself back from the dead. But ,surprised or not, the truth couldn't be ignored. Colonel Hawkins was guilty of something.
Our friends moved upstairs, and, as Sylvester, Buckster conversed in thieves' cant, Gangie Green conversed with Mrs. Molesly, who revealed that, indeed, the elevator does go the cellar, where Gangie suspects a number of mushrooms may be held, perhaps even mushrooms with some natural ability to contain or collect electricity or raw power of some kind. The final insight check that was made during the grand revelations in the ballroom was made by the Vicar Ian Prescott against Constance Brockhollow, discovering that she had a confession of something dark and terrible in the corner of her eyes. And, as the Vicar confronted her about it and saw, indeed, that she felt some guilt: there had clearly been an altercation. We had heard shouting just after dinner between her and her father upstairs, as she called him a madman and stormed out of the confrontation with him.
And, just as the Vicar was about to push the issue further, there was a loud knock -- boom, boom, boom -- at the front door. Could it be the police finally arriving after Mr. Gilfoyle's call? No! It was the widow, Catherine McCabbage, showing up in the rain, saying that she had seen the ghost of Connor McCabbage. Let us not forget what else happened in the previous week's episode: on a nat 20, Daisy D'umpstaire saw a ghost."
