Into the Sternwood is the third episode of season 6, Pirates of Leviathan.
The Buccaneer Buddies travel to the Sternwood in search of Trixie to find her and 14 other tieflings that had been kidnapped and put under the same spell. They're laid out at the edge of a lake in the middle of the forest in preparation for some kind of ritual. After catching onto their schemes to destroy Leviathan using the Daughter of Storms, Marcid attacks his boss, Langley Sheffield-Harrington, and a fight breaks out. Sunny snatches up a bell from the altar nearby and rings it, causing it to become fused to her hand, and the lake to catch on fire. Cheese rushes to the lake's edge to save the tieflings and sees his brother in the water. He dives in and rescues a mysterious ball of light, which quickly enters the bell and the burning stops. During the fight on shore, most of the Company's guards flee, but those that remain are killed, several by Jack in a rage for revenge against his first mate, Clive McDoon, now the Crescent Moon Navy's Lieutenant, being the one responsible for sinking his ship. Alamaria, Langley, and Clive are all able to escape, the Daughter of Storms back in their possession. The Buccaneer Buddies round up the dazed tieflings and escort them to the Gold Gardens, where Garthy O'Brien identifies that they're missing their souls, and gives them sanctuary.
Recap[]
"Last we left off, our piratical pals, they were stalking into the Sternwood after blowing this case wide open with a show of force outside of Jack Brakkow's domicile, in the neighborhood of the Bilge, and with a trip up to the surface in the neighborhood of Aftward to infiltrate and do some recon in the Crescent Moon Trading Company, we found out all the pieces of this vast net that tied together. And as Sunny learned from her goddess, Jane Wren, the net is closing fast."
"Thanks to some extremely rapid persuasion of a huge fan, by one Ms. Bob of her superfan, Grover Leforge, the gnomish clerk of the Trading Company, Marcid was able to pop in and grab a number of documents indicating that all of these various magical items: the infernal lamps being created at Bowser's Foundry; the Daughter of Storms, this recovered piece of a statue that has deific artifact level significance that she had found that morning. That was expected to be found, if you remember, by Langley Sheffield-Harrington and Clive Mardres. This… artifact got recovered and was bought, but quickly stolen back by young Cheese, who made it all the way to Jack's domicile to be discovered by Myrtle, the cleric of under-- a cleric of Umberlee, goddess of the deep, who, along with Sunny, Bob, discovered Cheese, Marcid, and Jack all in the Bilge together, where they arrived as a crew after discovering this massive conspiracy having to do with artifacts, control of storms, these infernal lamps, a captured tiefling show girl, and a great of deal of insurance paperwork. With many threads coming together-- Yeah, that's right! I did a bunch of insurance stuff, in the pirate game! You're goddamn right! Is it a statement? You tell me."
"You have arrived at the Sternwood following Marcid's lead, to discover the location to which Trixie, the captured tiefling, has been taken. The Sternwood is a massive cursed forest. It is a druidic blight, back on the surface of Leviathan created by captured druids, long ago. These druids, some-- some say that many of them, having created the forest, we're like, "Great. I proved my point. I'm going back to wherever I'm from." Others were like, "No, I'm going to stay in this forest and keep it cursed and haunted to teach these pirates a lesson." It is a dangerous place within the Sternwood."
