Liu Yang is a beautiful older woman. She has her graying hair tied back in a bun. She is dressed very sharply in a white fashion-forward button-down shirt with black pants and high heels. She wears a lot of fun jewelry.

Liu Yang is first introduced as Kingston Brown leads the Dream Team to Chinatown to meet the Shen family. Liu Yang opens the door to their family's building to greet them and motions to her eyes, discretely asking if all his friends are awakened into the Unsleeping City. As Kingston confirms that they are, she closes the door and opens it again to reveal an extra-dimension space, not unlike the space within the Lisowski Chest, where their family lives.
She offers the group beverages as she leads them further into the space and summons bottles of green tea on a cloud. She calls out to her son, Danny Shen, to come say hi, and leads them through a fountain to an enormous room with a massive plasma screen, where Danny is playing video games.
