Markus St. Vincent is a lieutenant of the forces of darkness. He serves as captain of the Siren and an independent contractor to Zaul'Nazh, Lord of Shadows. He is played by Ify Nwadiwe.
Description[]
"Marcus St. Vincent, the Unseen Blade. Captain of the Forgotten Fleet and victim of a stolen throne. He sits you know, in the lower decks of his dope-ass ship, The Siren, and he sits back with his crew. He has to his right-hand side, Anne of Kilkathery, Ol' Pickering, down doing stuff, and Bad Henry's sitting right behind him and he sits draped with his hood up as he has this marbled gold and silver skull mask covering his face so all you can see is his dreaded beard coming down from it. As a matter of fact, he is taking some black wax and really tightening it up. He sits, he's draped in this hooded cloak but under it, you can see just a little bit of royal captain's outfit. So, it's almost like he just threw a cloak over that, but it old, ragged, it's been a while. He hasn't been home for a long time and through the sleeves of his cloak, you see nice, studded, gold rings. You really don't know how he fights with all of this stuff because it's just too extravagant. Like if this realm had a rapper, he'd be it" ― Ify Nwadiwe
Personality[]
Markus is probably the most unpredictable member of The Lieutenants. While his stated main motivation is wealth, he often acts in unpredictable ways. He could be considered petty and vindictive: he is the only one – and rightfully – against Percival joining as the rightful King of Men had, minutes before his surrender, nearly killed Markus; he sends Olag to his death because he and Maggie's places were contested in Zaul'Nazh's Council. At some points he is willing to betray his comrades and employer for wealth, such as when he tries to flee with Zaul'Nazh's treasure after the latter's demise; while in others, he shows unexpected consideration for his comrades, such as when he allows Leiland to take credit for the defeat of Galfast Hamhead.
Background[]
History[]
Welcome to the Dark Side[]
Markus walks along Consort Maggie to take part in Zaul'Nazh's Council alongside The Lieutenants. In the Ante-Chamber, they are accosted by Olag, who wishes a seat on the Council and questions Maggie's presence there. Markus promises Olag to put a good word to the Lord of Shadows, only to immediately order Hobbert and Frod to bar the doors from anyone who is not part of the Lieutenants. Upon Zaul' Nazh's demise, Markus is ready to flee with the Lord of Shadows' treasure, only to be stopped by his fellow adventurers. To permanently remove Olag, Markus fabricates orders from Zaul'Nazh that Olag is to go and fight in single combat the leader of the forces of Light, order that Olag takes with gusto. Markus follows Efink Murderdeath's vision of the Anvil to the Scary Volcano, which leads to a heated battle.
Volcano of Violence[]
Markus is grievously injured by Percival's indiscriminate attacks and decides to temporarily flee, trying to tame one of the eagles. Jumping on his back, he realizes it is a sapient being and negotiates a reward for the Eagle changing sides. As most of the invaders were slayed, Markus returns, temporarily blinds Leiland, defeats Leiland's opponent Galfast Hamhead and gives credit to Leiland to the surprise and approval of their comrades.
The Caged Elf and the Crown[]
Efink convinces her estranged husband Percival to join the Lieutenants to join them, and only Markus protests as he was nearly slayed by the human King, but Percival is allowed to tag along since then. With the Lieutenants' goal being to reforge a Crown to replace the Crown of Shadows, Markus follow them to their best chance of doing so, the elf Avanash. However, upon seeing the maddened state of the elf, Markus attempts to steal one of the key ingredients for a new crown, arguing that Avanash cannot be trusted with such a monumental task.

Trivia[]
- Markus does not directly correspond to one specific character from Lord of the Rings, but his ship and fleet are a reference to the Corsairs of Umbar, those pirate ships that show up for a couple minutes in Return of the King only to get crushed by the army of the dead.
- His crew even references this, calling the “million ghosts” that someone summoned a “military deus ex machina”.
- His relationship to his brother might be a reference to Boromir and Faramir's relationship.
- In the Adventuring Academy episode "Reunion with the Cast of Escape from the Bloodkeep" Ify confirmed that Markus was "a pansexual type of dude".
