Melee Among the Magnamensa is the seventh episode of season 26, Cloudward, Ho!.
Recap[]
"Last we left off, our intrepid heroes had made their way to the skies of Zood, that fabled land, in pursuit of the aging professor Comfrey MacLeod, the inventor of aviation in the world of Gath. Somewhere here in the land of Zood is Comfrey MacLeod, having sent a radio signal that you have tracked down to this very place, known to the Legio Rex as the Temple of Ramansu. Their history is a little out of wack, for indeed you are in the heart of the Ramansu Power Station, where you know on the 44th of Tahal an expedition disembarked led by one Comfrey MacLeod, Olethra's grandmother, Daisuke's ex-wife, the original captain of Monty, Marya, and Van, and the, I suppose, beneficiary of Maxwell's family fortune. Making your way here, you see a field of Myconimus Magnamensa, a brain-swapping mushroom that's turned the Saltu, this local jungle, into a hodgepodge of deeply swip-swapped animals. The Legio Rex have come here to use the power of Ramansu to swap their emperor into a newer, younger body, extending his imperial life. But you heroes have charged in, begun to activate the power station once more. You see light coursing through that appears to be having some effect on the spores herein. As dinosaurs stream in, you are in pitched combat as you activate this area. We return directly to initiative, as Imperasaurus is going to go."
Synopsis[]
The crew battles the Legio Rex in the Ramansu Power Station. They see some of the power between the different color lights. Pappy makes an incredible choice to fill the room with yellow light, burning away the Magnamensa. Having thwarted the efforts of Legatus Dromarcus and overseeing this terrible ritual where they were going to take the Imperasaurus's mind and put it into the body of an innocent, young baby T-Rex. Oh, Little One! Instead they went toe to to with the Wind Riders, and Our intrepid heroes were victorious against them.
As the battle erupted into triumphant victory, explosive success, guardians of the power station of Ramansu, these horned beetle constructs, welcomed them as associates of Comfrey MacLeod, who was part of a research project here, bringing them back towards a launch site higher up in the temple, closer to those giant crystal obelisks sort of mounted on the peaks of the Arath Mountains. Upon seeing this launch site, they saw evidence of the dead bodies of warriors of the House of Fehujar here within the launch site. Looked like some weaponry and scattered single-person fighter craft. Looks like the Zephyr Mark II may have beat a hasty retreat from this area.
Wending their way deeper into this sort of research section of the power station, they came to a stone tower, subterranean, much like the one they had discovered back in the Antarctic research station where Comfrey had set things up in Gath. They moved through this space and opened it up, finding dead bodies of the House of Fehujar, the broadcasting chamber of the original recording, as well as a automaton, a clockwork man made of charred cast iron with wires hanging from his chest, kneeling on the ground with dead bodies around him, blood caked to his arms, reaching out towards a golden machine, a small, golden, spherical machine with three sort of ports for these cables or wires. Behind him, they hear the radio. Marya heard more than others, hearing a voice condemning her for a terrible failure and commanding her to fix it, now.
Stepping forward to do what guilt and voices beyond commanded, Marya instead found herself prevented from listening to these voices unwillingly by Van Chapman, who, with her mighty, gauntleted hand, lifted Marya up into the air, and to this moment, and this moment immediately, the episode ends.
