Messanteu is one of the four student houses at Gowpenny Academy of Arcane Arts.

Description

Messanteu is the "smart house" at Gowpenny, and its crest is a sigil of a shining copper fox on a field of cobalt blue. Its students are the best and brightest minds the wizarding world can create and sustain. It is the drive to maintain their pride of place, their usefulness in this way that allows them to shine so brightly. However, if their academics are not considered high enough, it is possible to flunk out of this house and get placed in Chimeron.

Background

In the heirarchy and schema of the school, Messanteu not considered either "good" or "bad." They are simply "smart." They are prodigious and proficient, and the students sorted into this house know that it is their place in the world to be the assistants, schemers, and "convenient plot devices."

Trivia

• As 'Gowpenny' is based off of 'Hogworts' from Harry Potter, so Messanteu House is based on Ravenclaw.
  • While the description of the house sigil is a "copper fox" on blue, the sigils artwork shows a "silver/white fox" instead. This could be a reference to how in the books Ravenclaws colors are blue and bronze, while in the movies they were changed to blue and silver.
• There are posters in the rooms of the house warning to stay away from Andre Henreek.
• ‘Messanteu’ is based off of the Teumessian (also called Cadmean) fox, a gigantic fox in Greek Mythology that was destined never to be caught.
