Description[]

It is a huge building made of what looks like gum-covered sidewalk, where the monks are able to walk on the walls and ceiling. In the Monastery there is an incredible yin and yang symbol with a golden half specked with grime and soot, and a purple half made of star magic, which represents the dreaming and the waking world. It is located far above Staten Island and can be entered through a fire escape on the side of a building just across from Spaghetti's Bakery, that extends up into the clouds for people who have been inducted into the Unsleeping City. The Monastery itself is too high up to be considered to be on Staten Island because of zoning laws.

History[]

The Monastery is first introduced when Sofia Bicicleta is invited to train there by Jackson Wei. She climbs to the top of the fire escape carrying two pales of water, and trains there with Jackson.

After burning down her house, Sofia moves the few possessions she has left into one of the rooms in the monastery, and continues to live and train there.

After the battle in Times Square, Sofia takes over running the order from Jackson, and sets up a school for rats in the monastery.
