Mysteries and The Metal Man is the eighth episode of season 26, Cloudward, Ho!

Recap[]

"Last we left off, our intrepid heroes were victorious against the Legio Rex deep in the heart of the Ramansu Power Station, having thwarted the efforts of Legatus Dromarcus and overseeing this terrible ritual where they were going to take the Imperasaurus's mind and put it into the body of an innocent, young baby T-Rex. Oh, Little One! Instead they went toe to to with the Wind Riders, and they got what they had coming!

As the battle erupted into triumphant victory, explosive success, guardians of the power station of Ramansu, these horned beetle constructs, welcomed you as associates of Comfrey MacLeod, who was part of a research project here, bringing you back towards a launch site higher up in the temple, closer to those giant crystal obelisks sort of mounted on the peaks of the Arath Mountains. You, seeing this launch site, saw evidence of the dead bodies of warriors of the House of Fehujar here within the launch site. Looked like some weaponry and scattered single-person fighter craft. Looks like the Zephyr Mark II may have beat a hasty retreat from this area.

Wending your way deeper into this sort of research section of the power station, you came to a stone tower, subterranean, much like the one you had discovered back in the Antarctic research station where Comfrey had set things up in Gath, in your world. You moved through this space and opened it up, finding dead bodies of the House of Fehujar, the broadcasting chamber of the original recording, as well as a automaton, a clockwork man made of charred cast iron with wires hanging from his chest, kneeling on the ground with dead bodies around him, blood caked to his arms, reaching out towards a golden machine, a small, golden, spherical machine with three sort of ports for these cables or wires. Behind him, you hear the radio. Marya heard more than others, hearing a voice condemning her for a terrible failure and commanding her to fix it, now.

Stepping forward to do what guilt and voices beyond commanded, Marya instead found herself prevented from listening to these voices unwillingly by Van Chapman, who, with her mighty, gauntleted hand, lifted Marya up into the air, and to this moment, and this moment immediately, we now return."

Synopsis[]

Our heroes were victorious against the Legio Rex and the Legatus Dromarcus and the Imperosaurus that were defeated in the Myconimus Magnamensa filled Power station charging room, where we saw various kinds of energy at play, and our intrepid heroes managed to best these imperial, dinosaurified army members and go further into the Romansu power station.

The first thing they found was the launch site, right with the doors closed over it. they found crashed Penny Farthing bicycles and sort of gear. They saw the site of battle between the house of  Fehujar and those that were stationed here, the guardians of Ramansu Power Station, have woken up. These sort of beetle-bodied stone constructs. They went further in where they discovered the sort of disanimated body of who we now know to be Torse, a Zonian warrior reaching towards a golden heart on the ground. There was a lot of debate over what to do, but most importantly, Marya heard voices commanding her to fix the creature in front of her and going to step towards it. Van unwillingly led with her prosthesis, with her combat gauntlet, grabbed Maria, hoisted her up. Daisuke was able to shoot Van and separate the two. Van admitted that she had been cursed and told everybody about the Chapman Curse.

Further in they found the radio station and got the full broadcast that had been corrupted in its sort of spinning cylinder. But saw the notes thats she used when she recorded it, that talked about "the thing that was losing oxygen rapidly. Was potentially gaining krill and methodand at unsustainable rate was a thing called the Langosta Five. learned all about the 40 KT, vex nef from the ECTIC Research station, talking about the true temple. talking about zood being real, mentioning daisuke in Gulch Canyon. Make your way to the Effulgent biangle captain's log in the Zephyr." So finding more of that radio broadcast helped guide the crew to the importance of this ectic research station, looking for clues as to where that could be.

They discovered more of the day-to-day offices. Van went down to the launch office, where she found that the log books had been stolen, with a little note over them saying, "Remember, Monty knows the way”, though, the log books that would have the coordinates of that ECTIC. Research station had been taken, presumably by the House of Fehujar. They also found a puzzle concerning how to open the launch door. That was a sort of glass disk having to do with one of the letters in this ancient Romansu illangan Empire Language. We later discover that this letter translates to "Z"

Upstairs, Monty discovered a ton of stuff. Schematics for Vans gauntlet, notes that Comfrey felt that perhaps she had misled or betrayed Van didn't communicate the full level of risk to her. Now she can't come to zood because she's the last piece of their puzzle. Harsh words shared about Montgomery le Montgomery, and whether he was indeed a windrider, which she said he is not. He also found some notes to to desiccate, a portrait of her and Marya, with Ludmilla cut out of the portrait, marya's old protege, which Maxwell spoke to Marya about. We found in a different in country's office, in a secret compartment that we discovered. We found letters from a cadswitch about Maxwell and being rebellious, abstract press, and even a bit of a rowdy. It looks like Comfrey had cooked some of the books here and there, a little bit. There were notes from Onion St. Clay, one of her former crew members say that "Zamara is on to you. They're not going to allow this meddling." and notes about Olethra overcoming being like her dull and dreary life and coming aboard the adventure.

Map of Zood and Zern

And finally, they discovered the map of Zood and Zern. We learned that Zern is not merely an energy, it is another place that zood is not a globe, it is instead a hoop. A tube that loose background on itself, braided with the other land tube of ZERN, a land of harsh fire and forages and rust and waste that exists in tandem with the brilliant land of Zood twined together forever in the cosmic sky.

Additionally, the stone contrast also led them to the captured Fraya Ildisdotter, who is now an associate of the Gotch Family Foundation, having been abandoned. By her associates and house of Fehujar. She then tells the party that Comfrey took out a loan from the House of Fehujar and failed to pay it back in time. The House of Fehujar is looking for supergold – a gold 100 times more golden than gold. Max ends up deciding to bring Freyja along, offering her a job. She is initially not on board, but the promise of dental wins her over. Hearing that her house did not come back for her, she laments not being tall or strong enough for their standards.

They ventured back into the stone tower to awaken Torse by putting the Golden heart. It said, the heart had been made for him by Comfrey, and with the inscription, “so Beats a Worthy Heart”. And talked a little bit about the Aganti Zernai, the tribe that torse belonged to. He is unsure if any of his people remain. It seems that Torse is a similarly cast iron, frightening looking warrior, but appears to be fully sentient and self possessed and opposed to the queen. Living in Zern, having resisted the Queen of Zern, and beings called the Naughtomata, who had given over their hearts to the queen of Zern. Were sort of an army of those sworn to the Queen of Zern.

And we found a book.  That van crushed a clockwork, little spider thing, and it was cast iron and rusty, and it looks like that had been given from the queen of Zern, to the Eyeless hand to lead them in this. a Tome with a cast iron binding with a lock, binding it together. One of gotch's keys opens it up, revealing. A text written in Wearian “a Gift in Principle to those faithful and stout a missive in a statement from the Queen of ZERN.” The missive from the Queen of Zorn was almost like instructions for how you diminish the beacons.

Eyefull Hand

This last sort of freakiest one. We've got a jar with a handful of eyeballs in it, lots of notes about the Straka, and the Biangles: Effulgent, Calefactory, Obtenebrant. The Effulgent, which they already found and got everyone to zood. The Califactory, which seemed to be in a lot of the zernian and stuff that you found. Heat fire is the red energy that they keep finding and calling “Straka Engery”. The Obtenebrant, which is a weird one, which was only referenced by the Eyeless Hand. They don't know if it exists or not, but it's like illusions and water. Illusions, water, and appeared to be something that was like a reflection, and maybe even like a reflection of other biangles.

The calefactory, biangle, this burning, fiery biangle was recognized by Marya, having seen it in connection with the Straka, the massive crow. There were also notes from the ancient history of Zood about Zood being attacked in a war between ZOOD and ZERN by the Corvis Exidium, a crow of destruction, and that the war, it ended around the time of the creation of the Flying Temple of Kateur. Notes from the Eyeless Hand about opposing Comfrey. Discovering, come free their name, wanting to free their nameless God. Whose name they definitely know, because they're going to chant it. There was some correspondence between some people where the eyeless hand was basically said when we recite the name of the nameless God. Then we will, we will break it down. There were things about diminishing the beacons. There were sort of mechanical notes from Zurnian technology that seemed much more practical and pragmatic about diminishing Beacons. And a lot of the correspondents from the eyeless hand were sort of like the shapes of the nameless ones are ineffable and unknowable, such as. Tubes and tentacles. And then correspondents coming back saying, well, the tube's not unknowable. And going back to think of an unknowable tube, and a response back saying, how would I do that? You know? So that seemed to be this sort of eyeless hand correspondence going Back And forth.

They discovered more information about Lord Kensington Cosgrove Mordecestershire having joined the Eyeless hand, something about reflections, the Obtenebrant Biangle being in reflections of even a note to Comfrey being like. Mordecestershire is coming. Comfrey sharing a noteback saying, “well, that boat as well, doesn't it? It means they're already on their way to save us, in a sense.” Lots of mystery, but lots of information to take in. The crew is back in the skies, seeing the strange horizon, and understanding the swell of Zern getting to a high, high altitude, and seeing this the swell of Zern, ending on the understanding that Fehujar has the coordinates to the ECTIC research station. And there was talk of a heist on the house of Fehujar living in their asteroids and the need for a heist.
