"New York is a place of incredible power for a number of reasons. Much of the magic of The Unsleeping City comes from the interplay between the waking world and the dreaming, what we call Nod, the Sixth Borough. The Unsleeping City is the place where those two planes touch and we find that beings from one place can enter into another. I will say as well here that there are opposing forces in certain cases." Alejandro Ortiz

New York City is major metropolitan city in the United States and the main setting for the third season of Dimension 20, The Unsleeping City. Being at the unique intersection between the 'Waking World' and 'Realm of Dreams', the city hides a magical urban metropolis known as the Unsleeping City.

There, it is home to the Vox Phantasma, Vox Populi and many other magical creatures and societies, hidden away by the Umbral Arcana with the help of the Gramercy Occult Society.

The Waking World[]

The reality and physical existence of New York is referred to as the Waking World. It is essentially New York as we, the audience, knows it to be in real life. Anything apart from this is hidden by the Umbral Arcana from normal, mortal New York citizens.

The Unsleeping City[]

The Unsleeping City refers to anything magical or fantastical in New York beyond what we, the audience, know real-life New York to be. Magical creatures, talking animals and objects, and magic itself exists as part of the Unsleeping City, hidden from normal citizens by the Umbral Arcana. However, these people can be awakened into the Unsleeping City to see, understand, and interact with it. Once awakened, it cannot be reversed.
