Perditional Contradoxy occurs when someone promised to Heaven is condemned to Hell. This event proves Sol a liar and causes a cataclysm within the faith. This event is so religiously significant that it could incite an apocalypse.
Etymology[]
While not a phrase in any real-world religion, the various parts of the phrase and/or their roots can be roughly translated.
Perdition means 'eternal damnation', or condemnation to hell. From Greek, contra means 'against', and the suffix -doxy means 'teaching' or 'truth'.
Together, 'perditional contradoxy' can be taken to mean "damnation to hell against a truth."
Politics[]
Perditional Contradoxy is an element of the peace treaty between Solace and Highcourt. The treaty states that the soul of any chosen of the Sun God would never occur on Solisian soil.
History[]
In The Bad Kids' freshman year, the Harvestmen attempted to open a Hellmouth inside of Kristen Applebees. Because she was a chosen prophet of Helio, opening a Hellmouth inside of her would have caused perditional contradoxy and created an apocalypse.
Trivia[]
- Brennan Lee Mulligan described perditional contradoxy as "complete gibberish" because the term was made up for the campaign. He goes on to say "Its very fun to make up fake medieval Catholic ... stuff that sounds like weird Latin based church nonsense.".[1]
- The concept was inspired by the intricacies of medieval theological disputes.[1]
