LouWTF WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING!? WHAT DID YOU JUST DO!?
Warning!! Spoilers ahead!!
This page contains major plot spoilers! If you have not seen up to Episode 10 of A Court of Fey and Flowers, proceed at your own risk.

Prince Apollo was a member of the Court of Wonder. He was previously in an advantageous political engagement with Viscountess Grabalba of the Goblin Court, but this was broken off with influence from Delloso de la Rue. One of his symbols was a golden peony.

According to Major K. P. Hob, Apollo was not very skilled at archery and could fire straight rather than arching the bow upwards as is standard (and more effective).

Episodes Featuring Apollo
A Court of Fey & Flowers

Description[]

Personality[]

Apollo loved fighting, and thought it was the best way to get to the center of the Hedge Maze. He often engaged in "whimsical bullshit" according to Princess Suntar.

Appearance[]

Prince Apollo was a statuesque figure of almost all burnished gold, and his skin and hair gleamed in the setting sun. He carried a golden spike as an arcane focus. In his armor, he looked like a burnished gold statue of an Adonis.

He was not wearing full plate armor, but in his true fey form, his body itself would act as heavy plate, although it would take a while for him to shift into it.

Background[]

Apollo was previously in an advantageous political engagement with Viscountess Grabalba of the Goblin Court, but this was broken off by Delloso de la Rue.

History[]

Relationships[]

BINX Choppley[]

BINX is the last surviving member of the Court of Craft, whose magic was stolen by the Court of Wonder. Hob and BINX therefore banded together to take down Prince Apollo (and possibly the Court of Wonder) for their misdeeds against both the Court of Craft and the Goblin Court. BINX doesn't know what his deal was, but she didn't trust it

Lady Chirp Featherfowl[]

Chirp coached Squak through his thoughts about him, leading him to realise he was only interested in Apollo for the prestige and drama it brings him. At the end of episode 6, Apollo sent a messenger dressed in gaudy gold armour and carrying a reflective gold envelope to Chirp and Squak's nest, inviting them to hang out at Apollo's private parlour for drinks in the dead of night. Apollo admitted its been boring at the Bloom while Squak and Chirp were acting correctly. Chirp told BINX that she likes Apollo more than she likes Suntar. Chirp, Suntar, Apollo, and Squak all sat together at the ampitheater for the play.

Viscountess Grabalba[]

He was previously in an advantageous political engagement with Viscountess Grabalba of the Goblin Court, but this was broken off by Delloso de a Rue

Grandfather[]

Grandfather was Apollo's potential future grandfather-in-law. Apollo found him terrifying. Grandfather approved of the match between Squak and Apollo, and even chose him over Alven when offered a choice between the two for Squak to marry.

Major K. P. Hob[]

Hob recognises that courts are never homogeneous, and that "a fish rots from the head". But he believes a fair amount of the nobility of the Court of Wonder are "arrogant, vain, haughty, small-minded, and of a nature most unbecoming to those of us who wish to uphold true values, like rumpus and mischief!", although he seemed to feel bad for speaking this way in front of Rue. He also specifically mentions the Goblin Court having been dishonored by Prince Apollo. Hob and BINX have banded together to take down Prince Apollo (and possibly the Court of Wonder) for their misdeeds against both the Court of Craft and the Goblin Court. In episode 8, the two of them made plans for a "sneaky sneak murder" which they would blame on Suntar. Later, Apollo approached Hob on his way to meet with the Lady Sylmenar and attacked him in an unofficial and unpublic duel, with an intent to murder Hob. Due to the unofficial nature of the "duel", Hob did not feel like he needed to engage, and instantly sprinted away, although Apollo continued to shoot him with arrows, including some which detonated and some that were magically enhanced with millipede-like feet to crawl in the direction of his organs. He used Command on Hob to convince him to fight, but Hob fought past the spell. Apollo continued to berate him, but Hob continued to run. Apollo revealed he knew Hob had been looking into the Court of Wonder, and told him to stay and ask whatever he wanted. Hob continued to run. After chancing upon his friends, he insisted on keeping the arrows in his body to make him "a walking crime scene" to bring evidence against Apollo, but eventually allowed Squak to remove them after one of the lung-seeking missiles pierced his lung. He revealed that he didn't fight back because he knew it would reflect badly on him to be found attacking someone of higher status.

At the Portal, Hob came across Squak and Apollo hooking up. Squak gave token protestations while winking, before Hob stabbed Apollo in the stomach, killing him instantly. (By rolling advantage and getting two nat 20s)

Lord Squak Airavis[]

Squak and Apollo first met while Apollo is grappling with the hedge in the hedge maze, attempting to burn a hole through it. Squak aided him, after which the two men engage in some light flirting. Squak identified himself to Apollo as both a friend and a competitor. Squak deferred the choice of how to get to the centre of the maze to Apollo, who chose fighting. Squak later gave Hob bardic inspiration and mentioned the failed engagement in front of Apollo to cause drama

There was a rumour going around the Bloom that Squak is actively courting Apollo, which Squak did not bother to deny. He considered going for it, but he thought he probably just enjoys the attention that the rumour affords him rather than being actually attracted to Apollo.

He later offered to marry Squak to help him fullfill the wager, as long as he and Chirp helped Apollo and Suntar to close the portal to the mortal realm. Squak didn't want this as he wanted to meet his niece, but he was overjoyed to string the two of them along, wearing navy blue and a strawberry pin to signal willingness with the plan. In Episode 8, a rumour went around that Apollo was trying to recruit Squak into joining his court.

Squak sent Apollo a mad-libbed love letter carried by doves who themselves are in love. He told Chirp that he might actually marry Apollo because it seems like it would be fun, but he definitely hadn't fallen in love. They didn't had sex, but you should've seen the way he did the Harlem Shake. Due to what Apollo did to Hob, Squak promised not to have sex with him, although it hurts him to say that.

Chirp, Suntar, Apollo, and Squak all sit together at the ampitheater for the play. Apollo left early, and Squak trailed after him. He was caught quickly, but Apollo allowed Squak to come with him as "business partners" to the final portal. Squak became concerned when he learned that Jeremy Renner wouldn't be able to move freely (and neither would Dev Patel or Michael B. Jordan), and very quickly became resolute in his decision not to help Apollo, and "discreetly" called on the Pack of Pixies to come faster to help. He then chose to distract Apollo by feeling him up. Apollo responded by kissing Squak. Apollo responded by kissing Squak. They continued hooking up (with Squak being careful to not evolve it into full on sex) while Squak worked on sneakily keeping the portal open at the same time as massaging Apollo's butt.

Hob turned up and Squak gave token protestations while winking, before Hob stabbed Apollo in the stomach, killing him instantly. (By rolling advantage and getting two nat 20s). Squak continued to use Apollo's dead body as a shield when Suntar cast Dominate Person on Hob.

Suntar[]

Suntar was one of the close friends who were hanging out at Prince Apollo's apartment when Squak and Chirp showed up.

Suntar and Apollo both offered to marry Chirp or Squak to help them fullfill the wager, as long as the two of them helped Apollo and Suntar to close the portal to the mortal realm. The Lords didn't want this because Chirp's family lives in the mortal realm, but agreed to string them along.

Chirp, Suntar, Apollo, and Squak all sat together at the ampitheater for the play. Squak accidentally spilled that he is Airry Pearry to Apollo and Suntar, and then passed it off as a return for the information Suntar gave them.

Suntar seemed genuinely upset when she saw Apollo die, as he was her only ally, and cast "Dominate Person" on Hob in revenge to force him to kill his friends.

Wuvvy[]

Wuvvy was one of the close friends who were hanging out at Prince Apollo's apartment when Squak and Chirp showed up. In Episode 8, Chirp spread a rumour through casting suggestion on someone to scream that Wuvvy was seen at Apollo's private parlour.

Yarl Korguf[]

Yarl was one of the close friends who were hanging out at Prince Apollo's apartment when Squak and Chirp showed up.

Trivia[]

  • Apollo is associated with golden peony flowers. This is why Grabalba is ripping some apart and burning the petals when we are introduced to her.
  • Apollo read very few books in his time, but The Green Hunter was by far his favorite.
  • His last words were "No, my butt!"
