Description[]

"You see a glass being held up by two little paws that fit the body of a little cat standing on its back paws, holding a glass, wearing a little half cape. He's got a little cane. You know, it's like one of those cats that you kind of can't tell if they're a kitten or old or whatever, the sort of middle ground, making the sweetest smile, raising his glass. There's maybe a little twinkle of something in his eye, who knows what, as he clinks his glass and says, 'Well said, Lord Bandlebridge.'" Zac Oyama

Appearance[]

PiB is a cat of indeterminate age who walks on his back paws and uses his front paws like hands. Rather than being anthropomorphised, his body is like a normal cat’s, so when he stands up his “long cat tummy” is visible. The hard times he’s experienced have left their mark on him - he is thinner than he used to be, with visible ribs.

He wears a tattered half-cape, once adorned with gold trim and embroidery, and carries a little cane. When he lived as Tomas’s advisor in Marienne, he wore a ruff, but he presumably lost it while fleeing the city. Most notably, he wears a well-shined pair of blue leather boots, which he takes excellent care of.

After his reincarnation in Once Upon a Time, he has a scruffier, more roguish appearance, as though he "doesn't have a home."

Personality[]

In the way all cats are, PiB is "a little asshole," and likes to cause mischief - either for personal gain (such as conning Lord Bandlebridge), or for its own sake. Rather than being motivated by noble goals, he takes actions based on what he thinks would be most "fun."

Relationships[]

Lord Bandlebridge[]

The series begins with Pib and Pinocchio attempting to scam Bandlebridge by pretending that Pinocchio is a cursed prince who needed 40 gold pieces to lift his curse, in exchange for which the two promised to give him forty platinum pieces, as well as Pinocchios "beautiful sister"'s hand in marriage, with a plan to instead just push him down and run away. Pinocchio offends Bandlebridge by asking for nicer sheets, but Bandlebridge agrees, as he didn't want to upset the person doing him a favour. When Bandlebridge comes back, Pib tells him that he is his best friend. Lord Bandlebridge replies that he has a list of his top ten best friends, of which PiB was number seven, but has now moved up to number three. Later, Bandlebridge realises they aren't who they say they are when he overhears Pinocchio refer to himself as the Prince of Shoeberg. Bandlebridge begins to berate them, when Timothy steps in with Silvery Barbs and his pointy broom to defend Pinocchio. During this commotion, Pib pulls Bandlebridge's scroll from his pocket.

Pinocchio[]

PiB and Pinocchio are close friends who scam people together. PiB later admits that they are actually best friends.

Princess Rosamund du Prix[]

When they first meet, Rosamund puts her hand out to be kissed, and Pib just kinda bats at it.

Mother Timothy Goose[]

When Timothy tries on Pinocchio's hat, Pib tells him "in the friendliest way possible, you look amazing." Later, Timothy scratches behind Pib's ears, which PiB appears to enjoy.

Tomas[]

Many years ago, PiB roped Tomas into a scam where Tomas, who was only a miller's son, would become the new king of Marienne, and PiB his advisor. Whilst seemingly happy about this on the surface, Tomas confided his fears about the giants to Pib, as well as lamenting his lack of knowledge in war and statecraft. Pib, whilst thinking of Tomas as an "idiot," still cared for him a lot, singling him out as someone important to him.

When the giants came and destroyed Marienne, PiB fled, and never found out what happened to Tomas and his wife.

After dying, whilst meeting with The Fox & Rabbit, PiB Refers to Tomas as `A Complete Idiot`, wanting to put him on the throne to cause chaos, as was his nature. Although In The Same Interaction, he sees Tomas's dead body covered with flies, and prevents the Fox from taking a bite out of it.

The Story of Puss in Boots (Reclaimed)[]

"Once upon a time, there was a cat who already finished his journey." ― Zac Oyama

PiB's story is more like a sequel. He's at the point of already having eaten the ogre, and placing the miller's son as the Prince of Marienne. He lives a life where he doesn't have to think so hard to get what he wants, and spends his time sitting and filling his belly.

Every few weeks he gets the prince to hold a feast to hear requests from the people of the city for anything they need from the "trickster prince." During one of these feasts, a beautiful older woman appears. She looks at Tomas who is laughing with his best friend, Prince Alphonse, and says to PiB, "Prince or no, I believe I now speak to a true trickster." Puss, now in sandals, merely meows in response. The woman replies that she is trying to be different now, and knows that the cat had helped people who had previously been befuddled. She then asks him if he would be interested in helping someone who knew exactly what they wanted. She says her name is Minerva, and asks Puss if he would be able to help her daughters get married. She introduces him to her stepdaughter, Princess Cinderella, and after seeing Minerva's daughters flat out brawling with each other, he says, "Let's go to work," takes off his sandals, and goes to help.
