Description[]
Ragh is a huge, beefy-looking half-orc barbarian.
While he was a member of the Owlbears, during the bad kids' freshman and sophomore years, he wore a red Aguefort letterman jacket, and jeans along with a pair of sneakers. After graduation, (as well as when he's not at school during his attendance, except on adventures) Ragh typically wears graphic tank-tops, which after the events of the shrimp party during sophomore year includes one with a crab king on it, and athletic bottoms like sweatpants and "short board shorts". At Zelda's rager, he's seen in a rainbow tank top, short shorts and "bro" glasses.
Physically speaking, Ragh has wavy brown hair styled in an undercut, that has become shaggier while serving as tracker's bodyguard in Fallinel. He also possesses a very large and muscular physique with prominent muscular arms. During freshman year he had a smaller waist which over the course of Sophomore and into the bad kids' Junior year has grown into a big belly. Most likely because of, in his own words, how he puts on mass crazy fast, and his diet of eating 10 steaks every hour on the hour. He also possesses several tattoos that he gained from his stay at The Gold Gardens during the events of Fantasy High: Sophomore Year, the most prominent ones being two golden half sleeve designs on each of his arms, and a golden cuff design that encircles his lower right arm just above his wrist. His shoe size is seventeen and a half.
Like all orcs in the Fantasy High universe, he is green-skinned and has eyes with black sclera and bright irises, as well as tusks.
Personality[]
Ragh is a stereotypical dumb jock and is very violent most of the time, but he is much more insecure and friendly than he first seems. He had a crush on his best friend, Dayne Blayde, and struggled with his sexuality for a long time until he began to come to terms with it in Prompocalypse. His home life is stressful as his mother is unwell, and he still struggles with his anger a lot, but with the help of the school counselor, Jawbone, he's learning to deal with it in healthier ways. After the events of freshman year, he helps run the LGBT+ alliance at the school and found some great friends in the Bad Kids, especially his fellow Owlbears, Fabian and Gorgug. Dayne and Coach Daybreak were never very nice to him, seeing him more as muscle than anything else, so he's very grateful for the kindness and support he receives from the Bad Kids. Adaine Abernant describes him as very easy to lead along, but very powerful when led by a good person.
History[]
Ragh is first introduced as Penelope Everpetal and Dayne Blayde are talking with Riz Gukgak. Dayne asks if Riz plays bloodrush. Riz lies and says he does when Ragh rushes in and starts yelling that he's the ball. Riz attempts to defend himself and offers up a business card, but Ragh just picks him up and dunks him into a trash can like a ball. He threatens anyone who dares call him anything other than "The Ball". That's his name now.
Dayne intervenes, rather apathetically, explaining that everything's chill. Ragh apologizes, saying that when he sees someone fuck with Dayne, it just makes him wanna go fuckin' nuts, dude. He just can't take it.
Later that day, he meets Fabian Seacaster on the bloodrush field during team tryouts. He's confused with the language Fabian uses when he calls his father a privateer, saying he's never heard a bloodrush player speak like that before. The words just go over his head. Fabian takes it as a compliment, that he's just one-of-a-kind. Ragh attempts to insult him, saying he's "one of a kind of a bad person", but it falls flat. Coach Daybreak tells the boys to lay off Fabian and explains, rather resentfully, that even though Bill made his money outside of Solace, the national amnesty forgives his actions, even if he may still be benefiting from them.
Daybreak starts tryouts with running drills, which Fabian aces. He tackles Ragh to the ground, and Ragh yells that he cheated. Fabian chuckles at his 'witty barbs'. Ragh goes into a Rage, and Dayne and the other players restrain him. After a scrimmage in which Fabian runs the field by himself, without passing to anyone, he confronts Fabian, saying he has bad thoughts about what to do. Fabian only laughs. When Daybreak tells him he's not on the team, he tells Ragh none of his "jokes" were funny. Ragh bursts into tears and Dayne comes to his defense.
During lunch, Ragh comes by the Bad Kids and grabs Kristen's bible out of her hands. He flings it over the lunch counter and it lands in a giant vat of creamed corn. It's what she gets for bearing.. whatever she did. Adaine kindly fishes it out of the corn for her using Mage Hand. He leaves her with a warning to think about what she did, but the group is only confused.
He is next seen in Episode 5, hitting Gorgug's head into a locker because of The Bad Kids' plan of trying to gain information from Penelope which left Gorgug "stealing Fabian's backpack" with Riz inside and Penelope promising to 'socially' kill him. He has a "mini-stroke" when Gorgug sings at him, seeing his opportunity to bully him some more and throws him at some lockers, comparing him to a jack-in-the-box. Gorgug gets into a rage and, with a Nat 20 rolled by Gorgug, cartoonishly and in an epic way, gets thrown down the corridor by Gorgug and runs away crying.
In Episode 10, Ragh is a part of Coach Daybreak's scheme to bring about the apocalypse. He freaks out and attacks Gorgug on the field for The Bad Kids attacking Coach Daybreak which leads to Kristen holding him in place and Gorgug brutally murdering him. The Bad Kids decide to revive him and tell him he shit his pants in order to manipulate him into protecting them and help them out.
In Episode 11, Ragh is being interrogated by The Bad Kids and they discover that Coach Daybreak was in charge of The Harvestmen and responsible for the church of Helio's door being removed. It was also revealed in the interrogation that Ragh is gay and has been unaware and subconsciously repressing himself to stay 'cool.' Riz realizes that Ragh is nothing more than a goon with muscle being manipulated by Daybreak in order to do his dirty work. Everyone recommends Ragh to go see Jawbone to talk about his feelings and dreams of Dayne as a unicorn-centaur (Unitaur). Ragh is convinced to see Jawbone after Fabian reveals that he has drugs, and was then seen running off the field when Riz jokingly tells him to "hit the showers" before telling the crew where Coach Daybreak's house is. Later in the episode, Ragh is seen being comforted by Jawbone who tells him to open up about his feelings. Ragh is mentioned to have been going around and taking out any senior who has been making fun of his new friends.
In Episode 16, Ragh is seen with a black eye looking very sad. After Dayne gets killed by most of The Bad Kids, Ragh freaks out before attacking Gorgug. It was revealed that Dayne was the one who gave Ragh that black eye when he confessed his love to him and was told to never do that again. Gorgug then persuades Ragh to accept himself and help them fight Kalvaxus/Goldenhoard before passionately kissing him. Ragh is elated that he was kissed at prom and joins the battle against Goldenhoard but was later taken down by him.
In Episode 17, when time returns to normal, Ragh freaks out and then proceeds to slice Kalvaxus's dick. He continues in the rest of the battle with the others.
In the epilogue, he is told to be a good friend of Gorgug and is also said to be training with Gorgug and Zelda. It is also mentioned that he, Shellford and Kristen are setting up the school's LGBTQ+ student union.
Fantasy High Live/ First half of Sophomore Year.[]
Fantasy High LIVE at RTX Austin[]
Ragh is in his final year at Aguefort Adventuring Academy when the bad kids enter their second year. In the Fantasy High LIVE at RTX Austin, he is seen at Zelda's rager, wearing "a very light pastel rainbow tank top, and very short board shorts with bro-y visor sunglasses". He helps Gorgug, by creating a space for him to set down his cookie cake at the snack table and telling him he's got his back.
When Gorgug says that he looks like he is having fun; he tells him that he is about to go play ultimate frisbee and that when it gets dark enough that he is going to the dance floor to "fucking shred, dude!" He also tells Gorgug he has to try playing ultimate while drinking. Saying "It's great,'cause the beer is super cold and you get super-hot and you sweat." When the younger tells Ragh he's never done it before.
When Ragh realizes that Gorgug is nervous about Zelda getting possessed at the rager, and the possibility of people dying, because he's a Sophmore and has never been to one. He comments that he went to a rager his freshman year and that a lot of people died. When Gorgug tells him he thought that people dying was just a turn of phrase for a good party. He laughs and tells him that his axe is under the snack table, and that if something goes down, he is "fucking ready, dude!" Gorgug then leaves to go find Zelda, following Ragh's advice to say hi before the ritual for her begins, as Ragh heads to the ultimate field.
He is present when Ficus defeats the Minotaur of Stunts, by wild shaping into a warhorse while inside its lungs causing its top half to explode into a heap of blood and viscera. However, unlike the rest of the party goers who are horrified at the sight, and Riz who vomits at it. Ragh just exclaims "Yeah, man, I fucking love ragers, dude! I fucking love ragers!" As he holds up two rock and roll signs.
When all The Party Fouls are defeated, and Zelda is no longer possessed by Faunus, the god of wine and ecstasy. She tells people thanks for coming to here rager, and that they can continue the party outside. With Ragh announcing that he and the rest of the party guest are goanna get naked and go into the creek behind Zelda's house. Which Fig joins them in doing.
Fantasy High: Sophomore Year[]
Sophomores Start[]
He is first mentioned as a potential hireling to join The Bad Kids's quest to find and retrieve the Crown of the Nightmare King by Gorgug. With Fabian backing him up saying "Ragh might be dope." Kristen also mentions she's seen Ragh at a lot of bars. Later that Saturday when Fabain and Gorgug set out to try and recruit their hirelings, with Kristen handling asking Basrar. They find Ragh and Torek Raillgrinder, who they were also hoping to recruit, at the LGBT Student Union for Aguefort Adventuring Academy, which is a clubhouse built on the academy's grounds, decorating it for a party that is happing there tomorrow night. Fabiabn and Gorgug approach him and tell him that they have a "Huge offer," asking if he is good enough, and "into adventure". All while flexing. Ragh ends up mistaking these questions for the two hitting on him, and says he's been "waiting for an Aguefort Owlbears three MVP, threeway makeout sesh for longer than (I) he can imagine." Before praising the guys for getting the "nuts" to come here and make it happen as he strips off his shirt while chanting the school's chant.
Fabian and Gorgug quickly stop him saying that there was a miscommunication. Though Fabian dose compliment Ragh on his physique, saying it it's clear he's been working out. With Ragh acknowledging Fabian and saying that he puts "on mass crazy fast," but has a hard time cutting, i.e trimming the mass into musculature, so what he has been doing is just putting on a lot of mass. Having put on 20 pounds that week, mainly because he eats "10 steaks every hour on the hour, dude." This dose however causes him to have to use the bathroom 13 times a day on average with the highest it's been being 25, and the lowest 4.
The duo the explain that the Bad Kids need him and ask if he wants to go along for the ride as they recover the crown of the Nightmare King. With Rog then vigorously agreeing to join them as he puts his shirt back on. Fabain and Gorgug then tell Ragh that they still need to talk to a few more people, but that he is high on the list on people they might take with them.
Ragh then tells them that after learning last year that Dayne Blayde, the person he thought was his best friend, who also was also his adventuring partner who he had a lot of repressed feelings for, that Jawbone is still helping him work through; was not only a very bad person, but also deeply hatful and a bigot. It messed him up, and left him with a lot of trauma that he's been working back through. Which left him without an adventuring party since last year. So, the fact that the bad Kids are even asking him to join is, "tight as hell."
Gorgug then decides to ask Ragh if he was with Dayne and Penelope all day before prom, and if either of them went near Agufort's office. However, when looking at Ragh for an answer he suddenly realizes that Ragh doesn't know who his dad is and probably is grappling with the possibility that he might be his own dad which he dealt with last year. He them cuts Fabian off asking Ragh what he was doing the night of prom. Saying to Ragh that "Just know. I really feel like I got a peek at something." Before telling him that there was a time, he was confused about who his father was as well, and that it was "a challenging part of my life that I was looking everywhere and then at one point, I felt like I found a mirror and I looked into that, and I thought, for a second, that I was my own dad. And I want you to know it's okay to think that you're your own dad. That's okay."
This cause Ragh to start crying, as he hugs Gorgug telling him that it's so good to hear that. As he and Gorgug agree that who knows "Magic's real. You do magic to be your own dad."
Fabian however noticed "a brief flicker of paranoia or fear on Ragh's face," as Gorgug said "I noticed something."
Later that night after finishing talking to all the hireling the Bad kids decide to bring Ragh in as a fourth hireling, that would not be paid by the school as he was not one of the three who they would pay for, and instead would be entitled to a share of any wealth gained from the quest as he is a fellow student.
That Night as Gorgug sleeps he has a dream of standing on a cliff overlooking a choppy sea with Ragh in front of him. Who then turns and reveals his eyes completely covered in blood as it oozes down his face and cheeks and asks him, "Are you, my dad?"
Mirror Madness[]
Gorgug tells his dream about Raugh to his parents who suggest running it by a wizard or Sorcer, and ends up telling Aidane about it later that day. After fighting off an evil extra planner version of Riz named Rig at his office, and learning both he and Fig are missing, and that Fig's tour bus was seen by Gilear at the Elm Valley Mall where a robbery occurred. The Bad Kids text Ragh to meet them there. With him responding, "Hell yeah, on my way, cinnamon pretzels, what's good?"
Ragh arrives ten minutes after Fabian dose at the mall, while the others go to get the other hirelings, to find him crying after trying to emulate what Riz would during an investigation and ended up biting down on a piece of glass. With Fabian telling him to shup up when he asks what wrong.
When Fabian tells him that he was trying to emulate Riz. Ragh tells him he is not the ball, but Fabian Aramais Seacaster, and he dose flips, and stuff. He then asks Fabian if he think that he beats himself everytime he bites a bunch of glass, which he dose everyday because glass is
Heartache on the Celestine Sea[]
Ragh admits that when he first started out at Aguefort he wasn't really into going on field missions, wanting to take care of his mom. His mom however scolded him and told him essentially that would be the end of his life. Telling him that he was "not gonna stay in Elmville [your] his whole life taking care of [me] her." He seems to have gotten over it when the school stated providing caretakers for her, possibly when he is at school or on a quest. He also admits his mom was happy about him going on a quest with the Bad Kids, as he was probably going to have to repeat his final year if nobody asked him on an adventure; due to the destruction of his old adventuring party with, and the trauma caused by Dayne Blayde leaving him party-less and thus unable to go on his required adventure for his grade, but if their grades are good then he can probably graduate.
Spring Break! I Believe In You! (Part 2)[]
Ragh graduates at the end of Sophomore year thanks to getting an A on his spring break exam with the bad kids. He becomes a bodyguard for Tracker during her road trip to Fallinel to investigate and push back against the high elf internation of Galicaea.
Boys' Night! (Roll20Con)[]
Ragh returns to Solace a couple months into working as Tracker's bodyguard, during the fall shortly after the bad kids have started their junior year. Getting picked up from the Asgrove Rune Port by his mom. He ends creating a group chat with the three boys of the bad kids' Fabian, Gorgug, and Riz. Letting them know he's back in town because he wanted to see his family and other people, and that he'll "be at Mordred a hot sec." if they want to come by and say hi.
Getting back to Mordred Ragh he is greeted by the three bad kids, and instantly clocks them as tense; as all three have tried and failed to think of an idea for the boy's night, as suggested to Gorgug by Zelda since they can't participate in the weekend long joint-quest between the rest of The Bad Kids and The Seven Maidens, as they enemy they face turns men into stone in a 300 mile radius around her.
Ragh then asks the three if they are looking for something to do tonight, as he's already hit people up since officially he's going to be back in town for a week. before tacking on that it might be a little bit more than that. Which while Gorgug doesn't clock it, Fabian senses a little weirdness around the fact that Ragh does not exactly know when he's going back, and Riz having been following Tracker's and Ragh's socials during the summer, while not sensing a rift between the two, does note that tracker's movement within Fallinel has been tremendously successful and has gained a lot of followers for the more ancient wolf-centric, and primal version of Galicaea; along with probably leveling up a few times. Suggesting that because of her tremendous success in Fallinel and all her followers, Ragh's purpose for been there has become a bit obsolete.
Riz then ask if Ragh has anything that he particularly wanted to do that night. Lying and saying that they already had some things floating around but could do something else, which Fabian fully admits is a lie, and that they are not floating. Ragh then invites the three into the manor saying he wants to say hi to everyone first, and that while some people have already responded to him, they could definitely hunt something down tonight.
Entering the manor Ragh does a special handshake with
Trivia[]
- Check it out, he's gay.
- Although he's rarely shown eating "on screen", it's implied by himself and several other characters that he eats a lot.
- His mother Lydia, while packing lunch for other kids, packs a garbage bag including fruit, a bag of chips, and a full foot-long submarine sandwich. This is stated to be at least similar to what Lydia packed for Ragh himself.[1]
- According to him, he eats "ten steaks every hour on the hour" while trying to put on mass. It's unclear if this is an exaggeration.[2]
- He's also called a "hungry boy" by Fathethriel. This is probably an example of Fathethriel's fetishization of half-orcs, who likely eat more than humans.
- After eating "so many cinnamon pretzels", Ragh still "hits up a biscuit".[3]
- His mini was sold as part of the Dimension 20 Fantasy High Freshman Year Auction for $2,800
