Description[]

"Rick Diggins is a Clicko Man. Wink! [winking around at every camera] Tell me where to wink. Wink! Just to cover all the bases. (It's a Lego.) But it's a Clicko Man, he's little and yellow, he's got a head..? You remember, from the Clicko Movie? [winks] (Travis: And Everything's Awesome?) And Everything's Very Great. He's a Clicko Man and he is, without getting too deep into it, he's had a rough couple years. And he's trying to rebuild his life, I guess you could say. He's a sort of master of disguise like all Clicko Men. He has different identities that he can adopt based on whatever ensemble he's wearing. And that's very much his sort of focus is blending in because Rick Diggins, the man, is a shell. And he's completely broken. But he is blending in perfectly right now. This is his character: Rick Diggins, Man About Town." Justin McElroy

History[]

Big Little Crimes[]

Rick is first introduced as a card game at Ruthie the Shell's private card house enters its tenth hour. Among the players are Aglet, Storm Drain Sonny, Rick, and Agnes. In an attempt to make conversation, Aglet compliments Agnes, but she brushes shoves him off. He moves to Rick instead, and when he asks what life as a toy without a child is like, Rick, as Man About Town, reveals his whole life story about how he's lived half-alive on the floor of the Littles' van for the past two years. This unsettling tale throws off the other players and he ends up winning the round, which includes the bag of fairy dust Aglet had put up to make the game more interesting.

After taking a quick sniff of his winnings, Rick sees Garbanzo Buglass and some of his gang enter the card house. Not knowing which four of his five bodies owes money to Garbanzo, Rick slides out the back door with Agnes, who asks him for help with something in exchange for aiding his escape. He agrees, and they head down to the drainage ditch together, where they find Car-Go Jones washed up on the shore and trapped under a twig.

Identities[]

Rick Diggins Prime[]

"I love that Rick Diggins Prime is a bald, French lunatic!" - Brennan Lee Mulligan, about Rick Diggins Prime

The core Rick Diggins personality, Rick Diggins Prime, is a Clicko man without a hairpiece that speaks with a thick French accent. He is a man primarily concerned with getting his next fix of fairy dust. He holds no ill-will towards Felix Flick, nor any particular love for, in his words "that bitch, Dylan". He is easily bought, however, with money.

Rick Diggins, Man About Town[]

"That is, uh, an extremely personal question for cards and gambling, but I'm Rick Diggins, Man About Town, and I don't mind disclosing to you everything that's happened to me." ― Rick Diggins, Man About Town, to Aglet

As Man About Town, Rick wears a tuxedo body and a top hat. He has a very enthusiastic and upbeat personality, no matter the topic. He is also extremely blunt and laughs a lot, typically in situations where it's generally misplaced for the context of the conversation.

Rick Diggins, The Supreme Man[]

"That seems a little bit extreme. Friend, have you considered some other alternatives to murder?" ― Rick Diggins, The Supreme Man, to Car-Go Jones

The Supreme Man is a super hero that has a cape and a blue leotard with red underwear over it. He is very much a stereotypical super hero, referring to other characters as "citizen" or "friend", and making short quips. He has a strong sense of duty and justice. In episodes 2 and 3 "The Superior Man" name was also used briefly.

Officer Rick Diggins[]

Lieutenant Rick Diggins[]

Diggins-saurus Rick[]

Diggins-saurus Rick is an entertainer, a clicko-man dressed in a green dinosaur mascot uniform. It is common knowledge that children love him at parties. More discerning company might recognize him from his famous X-rated routine. Known for his "nasty" behavior, Diggins-saurus Rick can turn a fight despite his unassuming form.

Relationships[]

The Tiny Thieves[]

Car-Go Jones[]

An old station wagon Car-Mo-Bot and a fellow member of the Tiny Thieves. Car-Go is the one who found Rick in the Littles' car and rescued him, so Car-Go is the only being in the world that Rick cares about at all, however little that feeling is. Still, he feels honor-bound to protect him when possible, though this may just be part of The Supreme Man's heroic nature.

Quotes[]

Big Little Crimes[]

  • That is, uh, an extremely personal question for cards and gambling, but I'm Rick Diggins, Man About Town, and I don't mind disclosing to you everything that's happened to me. You see, Rick Diggins— that's me— I was lost in a car seat. For two years! [deep sigh] My last family sold their car to this new family and I was lost under the car seat. For two years. And for two years, I lived in a sort of twilight. The children didn't know I was there, so I couldn't fully come to life, but because of their presence, I was half alive. For two years. In the darkness? Yeah. But this happens, right? This is life. Anyway-- [deep sigh]-- Anyway, now I'm just a card-loving gentleman because of my torso. Let's play some cards!
