"Pleasure Putty is a way for you to be your own ... boss." ― Riva
Riva (or Being Deep Underwater and Finding a Current That Leads You Swiftly and Perfectly to Where You Need to Go) is an Aguatunisian putty monger and the communications officer and unpaid intern aboard The Wurst. They are played by Siobhan Thompson.
Description[]
"Hello, I'm Riva the comms officer slash unpaid intern. Riva's obviously my human name. My actual Aguatunisian name is, and then you get an image of being deep underwater and finding a current that leads you swiftly and perfectly to where you need to get to. So that's my real name, but that's a bit complicated for most non-psychic life forms. So Riva's good for me, I'm just here having a good time. I'm out on my gallivant. That's a thing that we Aquatunisians do. We go out and we live out in the world before returning back to our home water planet." ― Siobhan Thompson
Personality[]
Due to Riva's inexperience outside of Aguatunisia, they are a very naive person. They believe the galaxy is a much more trustworthy place than it is, and they find it hard to believe that people would be dishonest to each other. This is also largely in part because the concept of lies or secrecy does not exist in their culture being a telepathic species who are able to communicate to each other through complex mental experience, often taking other's words sincerely even if it seems to contradict what Riva imagines to be logical. This has led Riva to fall victim to the Pleasure Putty pyramid scheme and often misinterprets or oversteps social cues throughout the series.
Appearance[]
Riva is a blue-scaled, aquatic humanoid, with pink fins running along their torso and limbs. They usually stay on the ship within a liquid-filled dome, as they lack both feet to be able to traverse out of water and the ability to breathe air. Because of this, they largely interact with others either psychically or via their psychodrone, a yellow dummy-like robot which they pilot remotely. This sometimes causes people to mistakenly believe that Riva is actually a robot.
Background[]
At some time in the past, Riva left Aguatunisia to go on their gallivant, a journey across the galaxy taken by young Aguatunisians. They were excited for the trip, but mistakenly believed that the rest of the galaxy would be as welcoming and sincere as their home planet. This naivety - as well as their unfamiliarity with deceit and trickery - led them to fall prey to the Pleasure Putty pyramid scheme.
Riva has 5 parents, and isn't particularly close with any of them.

Trivia[]
- Riva uses the mechanical stats of the Kalashtar race from D&D 5th edition.[1]
- Riva sees 18 more colors then the average human, but cannot see any shade of red.
- Similar to dolphins and whales, half of Riva's brain sleeps, and the other half stays awake. That half will rest until they switch, and the other side rests. Because of this, when one half of their brain is asleep, the eye on the corresponding side falls asleep.
- Riva's psychodrone can sweat.
- The concept of gender does not seem to exist in Riva's culture. This is possibly explained through their vastly different method of communication, rendering such distinctions to be pointless, or their species possibly being capable of changing their sex like many fish species do.
