Description[]
Shellford is a tortle, and basically just looks like an anthropomorphic turtle.
He's the "bad boy" of the A.V. club, but speaks very slowly, which kind of diminishes the impact that anything he says might have had. Despite this tough exterior, Shellford is actually very sad, and it's because of this sadness, fear, and self-doubt that he acts so standoffish. Thankfully, he gets help from the school counselor, Jawbone, after the events of freshman year, and appears to come to terms with his identity as a member of the LGBT+ community.
History[]
After the Afterlife[]
Shellford is first introduced when Riz Gukgak visits the A.V. club to learn more about the dream crystal surveillance cameras that the school has installed. He's introduced by Biz Glitterdew, along with Skrank Douglas.
He is seen in both Episode 3 and 5 alongside the other members of the A.V club setting him up as the "bad boy" of the group, constantly looking down on others and generally seeming disinterested.
In Episode 9, The Bad Kids interrogate him for information on who might've warned The Harvestmen about their investigation and hospitalized Biz Glitterdew. Adaine uses a Detect Thoughts spell on him during their questioning and learns that inside he is a deeply lonely, depressed, and self-loathing individual.
In the epilogue, it is said that Shellford has been getting help from Jawbone and is also helping Kristen and Ragh set up the LGBT student union which implies he is somewhere in the LGBT community. Between Season 1 and Season 2, Skrank and Shellford become close friends of the Bad Kids.
