Spring Break! I Believe In You! (Part 2) is the twentieth and final episode of Fantasy High: Sophomore Year.
Recap[]
"Well, you guys know what's just been happening. Our Bad Kids are reunited in the heart of the Forest of the Nightmare King atop one of these islands of stone in a sea of mist with the forest growing out of the top. In the Celestial Gallery in this island, this insane, knotted, knolled dark forest where we see celestials hung up and trapped like flies in a spider's web. Fig, Riz, and Gilear rush towards Ayda Aguefort. Oh, sorry. I am incorrect, it is Fig, Gorgug, and Gilear. So the Cig Figs and their assistant rush into the forest together. Yes, cool, you guys take off on Baxter. Baxter doesn't even break the canopy. Baxter just stays within the trees zigging and zagging and flying through them as fast as possible."
Synopsis[]
The Bad Kids start by splitting into three groups: Fig, Gorgug and Gilear on Baxter trying to save Ayda, Riz and Kristen trying to find and cure Tracker, and Fabian and Adaine, trying to rescue Aelwyn.
With the height they get from flying on Baxter, Fig and Gorgug attempt to look for Sandra Lynn. The Infaethable Bass sparks on approaching the sanctum. They find Ayda and Zaphriel trapped in shackles in the gallery of celestials. Fig uses Shatter to break these bonds.
Quite a lot happens. The Bad Kids, Ayda, The Hangman (in his Hell Hound Form), and Aelwyn Abernant findthemselves on a flight of stairs in which the Court of Elders, Arianwen Abernant, Kalina, Killian, and a possessed Tracker, Ragh, and Sandra Lynn attempt to stop them from reaching the heart of the Nightmare Forest, in which lies the transmutated wand and sanctum of the Nightmare King. Riz is fully killed by Killian using the power of a pit fiend.
The Nightmare King is restored in a ritual by Arianwen Abernant, his crown restored to him. Ayda and Fig plane shift into Gorthalax's Ruby inside Killian's chest. After being saved from possession with a tincture dart, Tracker destroys the cottage, breaking the second of the five trans-substantiations. Ayda breaks the contingency inside the ruby, Gorthalax is released from his chains, and Fig casts destroy ruby using the Infaethable Bass. On a high performance check, Fig is able to preserve enough ruby fragments so that they can use those fragments to cast Revivify on Riz. Shredding hard enough on the bass, Gorthalax, Ayda, and Fig are released back onto the battle field, shredding Killian's entire body. Using the ruby fragments, Fig revives Riz.
The Nightmare King fully appears as an 800 foot tall shadowy skeleton wearing the crown, emerging from the storm clouds. Gorthalax chooses to engage in battle with it in a bid to buy the Bad Kids time to focus on destroying the curses. Riz, uses his necktie to send images of Kalina across the world, which disorients her, but she is not down. She kicks Riz off of the stairs, downing him again. She then attacks Ayda, and Ayda goes down. Fabian uses the Elven Battle Sheet to save Riz as he is falling off of the stairs.
The Unicorn charges at Adaine and gores her through the chest, fully killing her. Aelwyn banishes the unicorn in retaliation. Tracker brings Ragh out of his possession. Riz is healed by Kristen as she uses a mass healing word spell. Ayda dispels the curse and possession from Sandra Lynn. However, Sandra Lynn is then almost immediately killed by Kalina. Kristen revives Adaine. Gorgug chops down the tree and the tree lands on The Nightmare King. The Nightmare King then fully kills Gorthalax.
Adaine grabs the spell book and sees an image of Kristen in the Unnamed Goddess' spell book, in front of a face which was half the Nightmare King and half the Unnamed Goddess. Kalina hits Ragh and he goes down. Riz deliveries the killing blow to Kalina, declaring "Mission accomplished, dad," as he kills Kalina, destroying the third trans-substantiation. Tracker destroys the broom. All four of the lesser trans-substantiations are gone.
On an incredible Nat 20, Kristen, on an belief that she knows who or what the Nightmare King came from, floats into the storm clouds, offering praise to the 800 foot tall skeleton. Kristen vanishes into it's chest. She is met with a humanoid figure, which seems to be the Goddess of Mystery. The deity tells Kristen that when their name was destroyed they had turned into The Nightmare King. Everyone had assumed the skeleton was a male and it was given the name of "The Nightmare King." Kristen gives the being the name "Cassandra," and devotes herself to them, saying that they were extremely important and have a lot to offer the world.
The newly reformed deity catches Gorthalax as he is falling through the mist and declares themself to be Cassandra "the Divinity of Mystery." They then revive Gorthalax and completely heal the entire party. Cassandra disenchants the crown, the final trans-substantiation. Cassandra then turns their attention to a fully defeated Arianwen Abernant and fully removes her magic forever. Arianwen is then chased into the woods by a van with hands, the "Vands." Cassandra deposits everyone back in Arborley and removes the briar wall, opening the forest to its true inhabitants. Cassandra reveals that they had nothing to do with Chungledown Bim's appearance in the forest. They could be joking, Fabian can't quite tell. Adaine brings back Boggy.
On their way back to Elmville, the party stops at Leviathan, meeting up with Garthy O'Brien and Arthur Aguefort. Arthur greats Ayda for the first time in hundreds of years and learns that Fig is "snogging the headmaster's daughter." He also gives Ayda a key that can transport her from the Compass Point Library to a closet in Mordred Manor. Garthy throws them a party at the Gold Gardens and asks the party, especially Fig, to take care of Ayda. Garthy then reveals that they took care of Ayda the best they could because in one of Ayda's past lives, she was Garthy's mother.
Arthur Aguefort reveals that The Bad Kids are overdue by retrieving the crown by one week, but "time can be rearranged." He tells them he is going to go back in time and fix all of the mistakes he made in Fallinel. Arthur Aguefort provides amnesty to Aelwyn.
In the epilogue, everyone returns to Elmeville. They return to Mordred Manor, and Sandra Lynn and Jawbone get back together. Tracker and Kristen spend so much time together. Adaine receives 16 birthday gifts from Jawbone, all the gifts she would have received if she grew up with them. Jawbone gives Adaine some adoption papers, officially giving her a loving family and a loving dad. He also, of course, builds some bunk beds for Adaine and Aelwyn. Ragh and his badass mother Lydia also move into Mordred Manor. Fig plans her new album about a phoenix who "everyone she touches is reborn better." Zelda and Gorgug go on a date to Basrar's and end up at Zelda's house. Riz shows Sklonda a "dorky slideshow" of his adventures and of course his dad. Hallariel and Cathilda great Fabian and Gilear at Seacaster Manor and Gilear gets to move into the master bedroom with Hallariel.
Ayda and Jawbone hit it off. Adaine gives Ayda her spell, "Ayda's Comprehend Subtext." Kristen starts taking to people about Cassandra and people are very interested, especially Craig the one follower of YES!/YES?. Ragh graduates from Aguefort, thanks in part to the A that he received on their adventure. Aelwyn tells Fabian that they could be "very toxic in each other's loves in a very exciting sexual way." Ayda and Fig are adorable and "love blooms in Elmeville." Tracker's relationship with her goddess changes and she decides to leave Elmville and return to Fallinel to try and figure out what happened with her goddess. Ragh and her go on this adventure together, Ragh as Tracker's bodyguard.
A peaceful summer ensues before, one day, while swimming, Sklonda sees Riz's pirate tattoos for the first time. In an attempt to explain them, as soon as he says "The Night Yorb," Riz flies up into the air, tattoos glowing, and and eternal darkness is released into the land as the Night Yorb returns. Arthur Aguefort, swimming nearby, asks the Bad Kids if they've thought about a Junior Year project.
