Description[]
Background[]
Trivia[]
- Stephen is one of several characters in The Unsleeping City based off of real people. Others include Robert Moses and Emma Lazarus.
- Adding Stephen to the campaign was Grant O'Brien's idea. While struggling to think of a magical ally for Broadway Brawl, Brennan asked Grant for help, who put in actual Stephen Sondheim.[1]
- The real-life Broadway legend Stephen Sondheim passed away on November 26th, 2021[2]. This is not the case for the Unsleeping City character Stephen Sondheim, however, as he appears in the Chapter II epilogue (which takes place approximately in 2023) to play wiffle ball.
- His standard mini was sold as part of the Dimension 20 The Unsleeping City Auction for $2,001
- His battle mini (Stephen Swordheim) was sold as part of the Dimension 20 The Unsleeping City Auction for $3,412

- ↑ Brennan Lee Mulligan, Dropout Discord, 9 November 2019: "This was EARLY in the world design process. I had already come up with La Gran Gata, Willy, Em, a lot of the other magical allies that I wanted the PCs to be able to find and save, and I was STRUGGLING to come up with one for the Broadway Battle. I was leaning towards Bobby Goodfella sort of, but I kind of wanted to him to ACTUALLY be the Puck, and not a true spirit of NYC. @Grant O'Brien was walking by the Art Office where me and @Rick Perry were working, and I yelled after him asking for help, and the MOMENT I explained the conundrum, he said "Stephen Sondheim. It should just be actual Stephen Sondheim.""
