While Adaine is trying to find ways to earn enough money to pay for spell components, Aelwyn tells her about a job at Oodles of Strudel, located at Synod Mall. Being employed there allows for a 40% discount in all the stores in the mall, so Adaine goes to the job interview, successfully getting a job there. Later, just before the first party of the year at Seacaster Manor, Adaine sees Cassandra and Kalina pamphleting. When Cassandra learns Kristen won't be joining them, she gets taken over by a rage, causing all The Bad Kids to decide to enter the Synod Mall, in order to protect Cassandra from this effect.
