Description[]

"Daughter of darkness, I want you to know that I'm not upset or angry. I instead have a calm sense of duty that I must remove your wickedness from the land. I never get bent out of shape about pretty much anything, like a leaf on the autumn wind." ― Telmeir the Calm

Background[]

Telmeir is the lord of Caer Bleddwin and is noted for his absolute calm and lack of reaction to anything. Prior to the battle in the Scary Volcano, he has not seen his daughter for many centuries.

History[]

Welcome to the Dark Side[]

Telmeir is first introduced as a noted leader in the Forces of Light during one of Efink's visions, and is later reported to have sworn alliance with Tiriath and to be marching on the Door of Doom to fight the Forces of Darkness. After Galfast Hamhead and Drova Longfoot destroy the crown of Zaul'Nazh in the Scary Volcano, he appears with Kasara the Beige and a group of High Elven warriors to protect them during their retreat.

Volcano of Violence[]

During the battle that breaks out following the appearance of the Forces of Light, Telmeir converses briefly with his daughter, but notably does not react to anything thrown at him during the fight. When Sokhbarr summons the Lava Mog from the depths of the Scary Volcano, however, Telmeir loses his calm demeanor and is visibly unnerved and frightened by the creature. While speaking to Efink on being widowed only seconds before and asking her to return to Caer Bleddwin, he is pulled into lava by Lilith and perishes shortly after. His final words are "I hate this mountain".

Relationships[]

Efink Murderdeath[]

Telmeir has a complicated relationship with Efink as her father, though it seems he does not view it as such, due to his unwillingness or inability to express any kind of emotion other than total calm. Following her marriage to Percival and shift to the Forces of Darkness, father and daughter do not see each other for centuries, and only reunite during the battle in the Scary Volcano following the fall of Zaul'Nazh and the Door of Doom. It is unknown if Telmeir was aware of his daughter's worhsip of Gogmoth before her leaving, or if he was only made aware of her devotion after the fact.

Efink is often defensive and accusatory in their conversations together after they are reunited, which Telmeir does not respond to, causing Efink to become even more agitated and angry at his lack of any emotion. Telmeir does inquire as to the status of her marrige, questioning what Efink truly wants in the face of possibly ruling Tiriath alongside Percival, but notes Efink's desperate attempt to gain his approval as "desperately sad". In the moments before his death, he does attempt to convince Efink to return with him to Caer Bleddwin, and presumably return to the Forces of Light, but is killed before he can do so.

Trivia[]

  • Telmeir, both as a leader in the Forces of Light and as the father of Efink, herself an analogue for Arwen, is an analogue for Elrond in the Lord of the Rings.
    • However, Sistra references a "Lyssandra Half-Elven" - the warrior who forced Zaul'Nazh into incorporeal mouth form - who shares the epithet of Half-Elven with Elrond as well as a shared history of battling a great evil into incorporeal form, which implies Telmeir is also possibly meant to be an analogue to a secondary Elven warrior, such as Thranduil.

References[]

  1. Telmeir uses the Indomitable trait during the battle in Volcano of Violence, indicating he is a Fighter between level 9 and 12, as he only has access to one use of the trait.
