"It's light shines most brightly on those who speak and act in the name of love." ― Saint Citrina of House Rocks
The Great Bulb is the deity of the dominant monotheistic religion in Calorum.
Description[]
In the world of Calorum, the sun is referred to as the Bulb, (sometimes "the Great Bulb"), and within the Bulbian faith, functions similar to the Christian God/Jesus. Its name is used in casual conversation as a part of common expressions and often as an expletive.
The Bulb is an entity not unlike the Sugar-Plum Fairy, though it is mindless. It does not possess any intellect, intelligence, sapience, or awareness, and the people capable of accessing its power may do so for whatever ends they wish. There is little to no difference between the warlocks and clerics that worship it. They hold the same kind of relationship with the Bulb, and the difference is mainly a matter of style.
Trivia[]
- The Fridge Theory: While "the Bulb" is what members of the Bulbian Church call their deity and sun, Brennan admitted in the talk-back after the first episode that naming it "the Bulb" was a sly reference to the light inside a refrigerator. However, this does not mean that Calorum is canonically inside a refrigerator, as humans do not exist in this universe. Instead, he used the concept of their self-awareness as food as a basis for their religions.
