Description[]
The Dairy Islands are a smaller nation made up of a collection of islands and are very naval-focused. Many of its citizens are sailors, and it's not uncommon for pirates to enter into Candia along the Great Stone Candy Mountains.
Many citizens along the Yogurt Shoals bordering Fructera have French accents, while citizens from Lacramor speak with Scottish accents. Their native language is Lacra.
Government and Religion[]
The Dairy Islands are not ruled by the usual King and Queen of a monarchy. Instead, the highest title a ruler can have is "Prince" or "Princess".
The ruling house of the Dairy Islands, House Cheddar, currently has no heir. Instead, Lacramor is currently being ruled by a cousin of House Cheddar, Duchess Primsy Coldbottle.
History[]
A few decades prior to the Ravening War a revolutionary named Lucas Fontina attempted to coup against House Cheddar, but failed and was boiled to death in the streets.
At the beginning of the Ravening War, Prince Tarthur Cheddar ruled the Dairy Islands as the head of House Cheddar. During the war, King Jadain of Candia decided not to honor their alliance, and when Duke Joren of House Jawbreaker went against this ruling, it made him and his house traitors. However, there's not a boy or girl in the Dairy Islands that does not know what they owe to Candia for their allegiance.
Some time after the end of the war, Prince Tarthur passed away, leaving the throne to his daughter, Annabelle. However, she refused to marry, and thus gave up her right to the throne. Consequently, her 16 year old cousin, Primsy Coldbottle, rules Lacramor as Duchess.
The Dairy Islands never truly recovered after the war. House Cheddar does not have nearly as much influence as it used to due to Annabelle's abdication of the throne. There are houses that deliver taxes late, and there are rumors of pirates taking down merchant vessels, but there's no way to tell if these Lords are telling the truth or not.
Trivia[]
- The cheese citizens of the Dairy Islands do have bones, which are made up of calcified cheese.[citation needed] This implies that the older they get, the more bones they have.
- Eggs, which is both a non-meat animal product and a source of protein that doesn't require killing an animal, would likely live as a coastal tribal consortium straddling the Meat Lands and the Dairy Islands.[citation needed]
