The Hangman is the infernal motorcycle that Fabian looted from Johnny Spells after his death. The bike is named after William Seacaster's pirate ship of the same name. The hell hound that possesses the bike is thousands of years old.

Description[]
The Hangman is a typical motorcycle that is bound to a lower level being (Hell Hound), and its appearance reflects this. At the front of the bike is a skull, which is later changed to a skull and crossbones at the request of the Bad Kids, an homage to a skull-and-crossbones pirate flag as it is also named after Fabian's father's pirate ship. Bill Seacaster also changes its color to a bright red for him.
Before being bound inside the bike, it used to take the form of a hell hound. It was a completely hairless, soot-covered, jet-black dog with burning eyes and burning light coming out of his mouth. It had a body like a hyena, with large front paws and a back that slumps down from a big ridge.
Properties[]
The Hangman has the ability to drive itself and talk. These abilities provide useful tactical benefits during battle, such as when Johnny Spells was able to cast spells unhindered while riding it. Fabian can also communicate with the bike telepathically and is able to call it to wherever it may be needed. The Hangman has been used to travel around Elmville, increase mobility during battle, as well as remotely monitor another location.
The being bound to the Hangman also gives the bike a personality. It has been completely dedicated to Fabian since the moment he bested it's previous master, Johnny Spells, in combat. It often compliments Fabian on his brilliance and prowess as a fighter, though its hopes and goals for the two of them may be more extreme and nefarious than Fabian really wants. It also acts as Fabian's unofficial "wing-man," and often tries to convince him to let pretty girls like Adaine Abernant and Fig Faeth ride with him.
The Hangman dislikes when Riz Gukgak rides it, and burned one of his business cards upon their introduction. It also dislikes the Hangvan and often speaks poorly of it to Fabian, likely because the being bound to it is a celestial, though it may also feel like it threatens the bike's position on the team as the token "possessed talking vehicle".
It also has the ability to protect people using an infernal rune. While traveling along side the Hangman through Hell, they won't be harmed. The Hangman speaks infernal.
Hellhound Abilities[]
- Fire Breath (Recharge 5-6): While in his hellhound form, The Hangman can exhale fire in a 15-foot cone and deal 6d6 fire damage.
History[]
Johnny Spells[]
The Hangman was originally owned by Johnny Spells. Johnny often rode the bike to Aguefort Adventuring Academy to hang out with the girls there, even though he was not a student himself. The bike contributed to his bad-boy reputation, though the true nature of the bike was not known to the Bad Kids at the time.
When the Bad Kids tracked Johnny to Arkon Gas Station and Garage and stole his hot rod, Johnny pursued them on the bike. Once Johnny was killed, Fabian took it into his possession as a sort of trophy, since he had landed the killing blow. Since the Bad Kids did literally murder Johnny and steal his very unique and distinct-looking bike, Fabian then asked his father to remodel it for him, which he gladly does. He gives the bike a new coat of paint and adds crossbones to the skull at the front. Fabian tells his father that he's named it after his pirate ship, "The Hangman". Johnny had not given the bike a name.
The Bad Kids[]
Leading up to and during the events of the Prompocalypse, the Hangman aids the Bad Kids many times. It drives over the fence surrounding the Durinson Mithral Factory, allowing them access (however indiscreet), and pulls on the webs from Adaine's spell to take down the skate park golem. It often aids the party— usually Fabian, but occasionally others as well— with mobility during combat, such as during the battle with Coach Daybreak on the bloodrush field, the battle at Ostentatia Wallace's house party, and the final battle with Kalvaxus in the school gymnasium.
The Hangman was also instrumental in monitoring the house of Zelda Donovan, who the Bad Kids correctly believed to be the next target to be put into a palimpsest. In the battle with Biz Glitterdew at the arcade in Elm Valley Mall, Fabian rides the Hangman into the building, and it gets sucked into a racing game along with him, which they are able to escape by winning.
Fantasy High LIVE in Brooklyn[]
The Hangman appears briefly as Fabian rides it (with Gilear on board as well) to school. It later appears again to assist Fabian in combat against Occularia.
Sophomore Year[]
When the Bad Kids leave on their next adventure to find the crown of the Nightmare King, Fabian takes the Hangman with him. He typically rides it alone while the rest travel in Gorgug's van. As they reach the edge of the Celestine Sea and realize that the Hangman does not have the same aquatic capabilities that the Hangvan does, they strap it to the roof of the van-boat. It is not happy about this arrangement.
It is taken down from the roof once the party reaches the Gold Gardens in Leviathan. It's kept in the stables there until it bursts free in the middle of the night when Fabian contacts it telepathically to tell him about his imminent battle in Crow's Keep. This alerts the rest of the party to Fabian's disappearance. After they retrieve him, he keeps the Hangman in his suite at the Gold Gardens until that night he stabs it through the engine block while under the effects of Dominate Person.
The Hangman is later fixed by Gorgug using his level in artificer, and it is reunited with Fabian.
In Hell[]
When Fig is served a subpoena to a tribunal for her father's negligence over his realm, the Bad Kids plan to all sneak in through the door to Hell with her. However, since the Hangman is possessed by a lesser devil, once the door sensed the Hangman passing through, it closed, trapping Fig, Riz, Gilear and the Hangman in Hell without the rest of their party. Since Gilear is a just a completely regular guy, he is hit by raining fire once he is over the threshold and falls unconscious. After Riz revives him, the Hangman declares him under its protection, preventing him from getting hit again. Much to its despair, it carries Gilear and Riz to the tribunal, with Fig skitching behind it on her skateboard.
While in Hell, Fabian is still able to communicate telepathically with the Hangman. It asks him if he'd like to get in contact with his father, and Fabian pretends to be cool and nonchalant about it at first before eagerly agreeing. The Hangman sends a message to Bill Seacaster, who is able to locate Fig, Riz, and Gilear after they light a beacon for him, saving them from the legal proceedings of Vraz the Mean.
Aboard the Goldenrod, the Hangman's loyalty is put into question as the warlock contracts made under Gorthalax are nullified by Vraz. Johnny Spells and his gang of tiefling bard dancers show up and the bike is conflicted about who to fight alongside. Johnny calls it "Bike" and demands it come to him, but the Hangman chooses Fabian, appreciating that his new master had taken the time to give him a name.
The Forest of the Nightmare King[]
When the Bad Kids enter the Forest of the Nightmare King, Fabian asks the Hangman to stay behind to protect Gilear. After Kalina starts attacking them and they begin to retreat, Fabian contacts the Hangman and asks it to meet them right at the entrance, and to be ready to leave. The Hangman wants to rush in after him, but Fabian tells him not to, as he's likely to be kidnapped and transported to the Goddess of Mystery's cottage.
While the Bad Kids recover a weakened Aelwyn Abernant, the Hangman, in his Hell Hound Form, limps across the fields to meet them. He admits he could not locate Gilear and assumed he went into the Forest. Being a lesser devil, he was restricted access past the briar wall protecting the Nightmare King's forest. He recounts a greater Archdevil appeared, granting him access, but only on the condition of shedding his material vessel: the Hangman motorcycle. Amid his search for Gilear and the gang, he broke his back leg.
He is ashamed to be seen in his true form by his master Fabian, wishing he was still a motorcycle and not a dog. Fabian assures him that he doesn't love him just because he's a motorcycle. Not to mention how cooler it would be to ride a gigantic Hell Hound compared to a motorcycle.
