The Unsleeping City: Chapter II
|
Description[]
The Johns are all super jacked jock-types who enjoy working out, but are very emotionally mature. They are very friendly with Ricky and are eager to help him figure out his feelings for Esther Sinclair. In one instance, they invited him to join them on a trip to Atlantic City.
The Unsleeping City[]
We Need to Talk About Pete[]
They are first introduced as Ricky looks over his text messages from Esther. One of them is lifting weights, one is doing sit-ups, and the other is making a protein smoothie when they ask him about it. Ricky expresses his desire to become more educated so that he can connect with her better, and the Johns lament how difficult it is for women in academia, all while continuing to work out. They assure Ricky that having feelings for someone is a form of respect for them, because you find something about them beautiful, until the fire chief walks in and reprimands them for not being by the alarm.
The Unsleeping City: Chapter II[]
The Fall of New York City[]
On his way to work at the Helping Hands Homeless Outreach Center, Ricky spots the Johns on their old firetruck and sprints to catch up with them. They ask him how he's doing, and he confirms that he's been taking care of himself, as it's important to put your own oxygen mask on first before helping the person next to you. He informs them that things with his girlfriend, Esther Sinclair, are going well, and that they'd moved in with each other. The Johns are proud of him for finding someone he can take care of and who can take care of him, and Ricky picks them up in gratitude. They take turns lifting each other up before informing Ricky that they've got a fire they need to get to, and they part ways.
