The Night Yorb is a mysterious being feared by devils and angels alike that is, coincidentally, almost an anagram of Garthy O'Brien.

The Night Yorb is an enormous manta ray made of darkness itself. It wants to herald the world into an age of darkness, creating a very slow apocalypse.

Sophomore Year[]
Heartache on the Celestine Sea[]
Upon finding the guestbook from the Hotel Cavalier, Riz discovers that Bill Seacaster had visited there to do business with someone named Garthy O'Brien. In an attempt to figure out who this person was, Riz rearranges the letters in Garthy's name to form the words "Night Yoarrbe", later shortened to "Night Yorb". The Hangman reacts violently to hearing these words spoken aloud, and warns them not to do so again. The planetar Zaphriel, inhabiting a sapphire in the Hangvan, also voices his agreement that the Night Yorb is "bad news".
Leviathan Rock City[]
During their stay in the Gold Gardens, Fabian convinces Riz to do some drugs. Riz, in drug-induced high, decides to have numerous tattoos of the clues that the Bad Kids have found so far during their quest for the Nightmare King's crown. One of the tattoos that Riz asked for was "Night Yorb."
Spring Break! I Believe In You! (Part 2)[]
During the summer break after the end of sophomore year, Riz and The Bad Kids decide to relax at the new pool installed at Strongtower Luxury Apartments. Riz's mother, Sklonda Gukgak, is astonished to see that Riz has tattoos over his body. Riz tries to explain that the tattoos were clues, and Sklonda asks Riz what they say. Riz began to list the clues on his chest including "Nightmare King crown," "Garthy O'Brien", and "Night Yorb."
As soon as Riz speaks the words "Night Yorb," his body floats into the air and his tattoos begin to glow. A massive column of darkness shoots up into the sky, and a swirling vortex; a manta-ray of shadow, blots out the sun. The darkness begins to speak and says, "You have spoken the name of the Night Yorb! An age of darkness forevermore!" The sky then turns dark as day instantly turns to night.
Junior Year[]
Summer Scaries[]
The Bad Kids have built the solar lasso and are mid-battle with the Night Yorb and his cultists, also known as Yorbies. It's all been leading up to this.
Summer Breakdown[]
After a long and difficult battle, the Bad Kids manage to seal the Night Yorb into a sigil on the roof of The Hangvan, ending the eternal night it caused.
Powers & Abilities[]
The Night Yorb is a powerful manta ray-like creature capable of spreading endless night by its mere presence and commands a group of cultists known as Yorbies who follow its every will.
Every time someone says its name in its vicinity, the Night Yorb heals for a small amount, is capable of flight, and possesses a prehensile tail which it can use to grab its victims and absorb them into its body.
