The Stabber of the Evening is the fourth episode of season 8, Mice & Murder.
Recap[]
"Gang, last we left off, it was a showdown in the study. It was a hoedown in the drawing room. It was the moment of revelation, as gentleman detective Sylvester Cross showed the world that, indeed, it was not solely Mrs. Molesly who could've been responsible for the murder of Squire William Thornwall Brockhollow. No, indeed, with the revelation, not only of Mrs. Molesly's mole-centric epilepsy, which, with bright light, stuns her into a period of not being aware of her surroundings, and of losing her short-term memory for a spell, we also found a number of clues scattered throughout the study: a position of a knife with a pronghorn antler handle, the missing knife from Buckster $ Boyd's ankle, in the paw of Squire Badger. And, last but not least, the revelation of a secret door, leading from the hallway into the study.
So it was true that, not only could there have been Mrs. Molesly and Squire Badger within the study, there could have been someone else coming in from the hall. Making a quick assessment of where everybody was within the grounds, we discovered that a number of suspects came about right away, including Vicar Ian Prescott, left alone with the Lady Lucretia, Buckster $ Boyd and Daisy D'umpstaire, reading the notice of Squire Badger's intent to sell 50% of his share in Buckster's oil business, the skulking Gangie Green, watching from the shadows as the American interlopers read their business document, and, in fact, Mr. Sylvester Cross and Sergeant Lars Vandenchomp, all of them unaccounted for at the time of the murder.
We now return, not only that, but, before the moment of the murder, we saw the ghostly image of Fletcher Cottonbottom by the dock outside, and the strike of lightning that occurred on top of Loam Hall's hill, witnessed only by Sylvester Cross and Lars Vandenchomp. We cut back now to the study inside of Loam Hall, where Gangie Green, Daisy D'umpstaire, Buckster $. Boyd, Vicar Ian Prescott, Lars Vandenchomp, Sylvester Cross, Dr. Corbin Magpie, Constance Brockhollow, and Mrs. Molesly remain behind in the study, as Sylvester has just followed up the revelations within the study to confer with Lars that, indeed, they have witnessed the dead."
