He is a butterscotch falcon and is described as looking quite old, and simultaneously very distinguished and grumpy-looking.
History[]
After Sir Theobald Gumbar teaches Princess Ruby the Find Familiar spell, she steps out onto a balcony one night and casts the spell. In the distance, she sees him flying in with her archer's vision. He lands on her arm and screeches, which sounds like "yak" to her. When she asks his name, he only screeches again, so she decides to call him "Yak".
She feeds him some seeds, and then he takes off to hunt in the Fructeran fields. Theobald believes him to be better than Sprinkle, which angers Sprinkle. Ruby assures Jet that even though she's got Yak now, she's still #1 in her book.
During the archery competition in the Grand Tournament, Yak assists Ruby by giving her the Help action as she shoots.
