Zaul'Nazh, Lord of Shadows is the ruler of the forces of darkness and supreme general against the forces of light. He was killed by Galfast Hamhead and Drova Longfoot throwing his one true crown into the Scary Volcano.

Description[]
He was specifically chosen by Gogmoth to rule the Bloodkeep mainly for the reason that he was dating Maggie, who is Gogmoth's daughter. However he didn't even truly care about Maggie mainly showing more romantic interest in Leiland and the other Vinguri whilst dodging around the issue of marrying Maggie.
He seemed to be very antagonistic but had poor decision-making while in control of the forces of darkness. For example, he housed his soul within his crown after an exchange with the Boatman. Even though the artifact was crucial to bringing him back from the dead, he took few precautions to protect it, not even telling his closest lieutenants about the crown's nature.
Trivia[]
- Zaul'Nazh is a direct analogue for Sauron. He’s just a mouth, where Sauron is just an eye.
- Both Sauron and Zaul'Nazh are successors to a greater Dark Lord (Morgoth and Gogmoth, respectively).
- It should also be noted that there is a character in LOTR who speaks for Sauron who is called “the Mouth of Sauron”. No character in the campaign seems to share a direct analogue with this role, as Zaul'nazh speaks to his lieutenants directly.
- The first half of the campaign is dedicated to the lieutenants trying to bring back Zaul'Nazh, but after they realize how terrible a leader he really was, they decide to instead make Leiland Jr. the new Lord of Shadows, leaving Zaul'Nazh dead forever.
